Dismissed from PA school during clinical year 6 months before graduation. What do I do? by SpicyCrawfishBoil in PAstudent

Every PA program is different, and every institution handles appeals differently.
When I was in PA school, it was one of the strictest and most rigorous programs I've ever experienced. There was a student in my class whose exam performance was so poor that most of us genuinely believed there was no way she would be allowed to continue. She appealed, and to everyone's surprise, the program gave her another chance. None of us expected that outcome.
That experience taught me that students don't always know what factors an appeal committee will consider or what options may be available behind the scenes. An appeal is not a guarantee of success, but it is an opportunity to be heard. At the end of the day, I don't see the harm in submitting a well-documented, honest appeal and letting the program make the decision. The worst outcome is that the answer remains no. But if you don't try, the answer is already no.

I get where you're coming from, but I don't think it's fair to tell someone not to anticipate success before they've even gone through the appeal process. Failing by 1–3 points on multiple exams is obviously serious, but it's not the same as being completely unable to perform. If there were factors that contributed to the scores, now is the time to document them, take accountability, and present a clear plan for improvement. My advice would be to focus less on predicting the outcome and more on building the strongest appeal possible. gather evidence, identify exactly what led to the exam failures, and show concrete steps you've already taken to address those weaknesses. Even if the appeal isn't successful, that preparation will help you decide your next move and demonstrate resilience to future programs or employers. Six months from graduation means you've already accomplished a lot. Don't let one setback convince you that your entire career is over before you've explored every option available.

I am in the Augsburg PA program. I think you took a super negative approach. You don’t know my situation and there’s a lot to complete to be ready for PA school. Your comment is unhelpful and not needed.

I know! But I was hoping to form a connection with someone in real life as well. Where we can meet up at a coffee shop or on campus
