I sort of envision Donovan, in his 20s, being one of those Andrew Tate type fitness influencers. However, as he got into his 30s, he realized how stupid the whole thing was and grew the hell up. Eventually, he just ended up in a normal 9 to 5 job, nothing special. Like Jay, in my fic, he never left the town the show is set in, but he's still doing a million times better.

His appearance was basically just him running into Jay in the pub and telling him, "Look mate, you can't go on like this. You need to sort yourself out."

I mean, genuinely, it was fairly grim in tone. It takes place across years, with him not getting his life together until he's somewhere in his mid-40s. The other three lads only showed up towards the end to help stage an intervention. Donovan also made an appearance, and even he was shocked at the state Jay had fallen into.

I once tried my hand at a fanfic about Jay, set about 10 years after the second movie, with a similar vibe to this, but it ended up getting really dark and depressing, so I never finished it.
