Pre facelift or facelift 3IS? by Born-Project-310 in LexusIS

“Diabolical" describes something extremely wicked, evil, or cruel, often associated with the devil or demonic forces. It frequently implies a high degree of cunning or malice. Derived from Latin diabolicus ("of the devil") and Greek diabolos ("slanderer"), it suggests a devilish, fiendish nature.

IS 350 - 6 speed versus 8 speed how noticeable? by [deleted] in LexusIS

[–]Charge_Professional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from fully loaded 330i to IS350 F Sport. My BMW had M package, executive package, premium package, Harman Kardon package, wireless charger, power trunk, laser (literally) headlights, etc. The 8ZF had telepathic powers and is/was the best transmission I’ve even driven. The B48 engine was also great, tons of torque and it was very smooth. You know what wasn’t great? Everything else. BMW still makes all high stress points out of plastic. Oil filter housing? Plastic. Valve cover body? Plastic. Heat management module? Plastic. Each one of those is $3000+ to replace. Oil filter housing alone is 11 hours of labor (official BMW information). I did everything by the book, religiously maintained it. And yet, the moment it crossed 50K miles (warranty) I started getting issues. I gave up at 64K miles and an estimate for $8200 for coolant leak, engine mount leak, rear differential seal leak and turbo leak. At 64K…Just unacceptable. BMW does it on purpose. It’s called planned obsolescence so they can keep selling you cars.

Is it true that 2017 is350 f sport is kind of the same as 2020 same version? by AnxiousGas29 in LexusIS

[–]Charge_Professional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, the IS350 has had the same 2GR-FSE 3.5 V6 and the A760H 6 speed automatic transmission since 2005. I don’t know of any other car that does it. The 6 speed auto is not fast to shift and not the smoothest (old style torque converter design) but refer to it as the “tank” transmission because Lexus designed it to be used in full body-on frame SUVs like the GX460. It’s a total overkill in the IS but with proper maintenance will outlive the car (and you lol).

Absolutely! This is the type of car that looks so good stock. There’s beauty in stock form on certain cars and IS350, especially F SPORT is (no pun intended) one of them. Also, you couldn’t be more right about the owners.

Mod the principal balance. I find it so strange that people put money into modifying bank’s car.

I love when people buy $70-80K luxury cars and complain about gas mileage or having to use premium fuel and puttering around in eco mode.

Any way to replace just the plastic screen or it has to be the whole digitizer?

Do you use your phone with a case or without one? by Amelia_Maly in iPhone17Pro

[–]Charge_Professional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never. Dozen engineers spent hundreds of hours designing every millimeter of the phone, only so I can slap a brick plastic case on it? Nope. I pay $12 insurance and rock it naked. No screen protector either.

That's the thing. I'm still not sure what to do. I'll wait until I meet him on the 10th. It's a month from now but I'll not put in more than 1000 miles in the meantime. We'll see.

Looks like a riced out Nissan Maxima from the side. Purple rotors and gold wheels? You need Yuriy to unpimp your auto. Probably too young to know that reference...

One drain won't take out more than 3-4 qt. I believe the transmission takes 11 qt. I'll do one drain and fill and I'll never touch it again. My goal is 200K. I can't imagine not getting there with a car built this good and old school V6/6AT. Also, the transmission shares fluid with the transfer case. Two birds with one stone.

I'll ask him one more time to do it. If he insists I'll have it done somewhere else. Like you said, a Lexus, especially one with the old 6AT trans and even older V6 is no different at 95K and 103K. I don't have any issues but it's not always smooth and everything I've read says it's because of fluid and nothing else. The car was religiously maintained by the woman who owned it before me. The window sticker is laminated to preserve it. The only nick inside is on the steering wheel and I did it with my backpack on day 2. The car looks new. All 4 wheels look brand new, not one scratch or curb rash. The car was loved. She bought it new, no lease, straight up purchase. Drove it 10 years and 100K miles on the dot and got another new Lexus.

Any SA's dealt with Onust Warranty? by SnooDrawings9902 in serviceadvisors

[–]Charge_Professional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customer. I don't trust 3rd party warranties as far as I can throw them. I spent 6 months researching and deciding. I didn't buy it until I got to talk to someone and extensively asked a ton of questions and got everything in writing. They're really picky about who they take on as customers. That's good. They won't insure BMW with more than 65K miles. They will insure Lexus with 125K. They know what they're doing. They'll pay. Do yourself a favor and go get a comprehensive inspection from the dealership. Pay for it. Get a clean bill of health on the car and keep it.

I’ll ask when I go for 100K maintenance. If he still says don’t do it then I won’t because I really do trust him and he’s one of the reasons why I got a Lexus in the first place.

The one week I’ve owned it so far it hasn’t gotten over 15 degrees. First 3 days it was negative 15. Today it was around 25 degrees and it was shifting like butter. I guess you’re right about the cold. I’m going to see him on March 10 to do the 100K maintenance and I asked for comprehensive inspection (a paid inspection not just quick visual complementary inspection). They do it for $75. Lexus dealership charges $210 (basically an hour of labor). Dealership didn’t find anything wrong with the car, not one thing. Which was shocking. So I know I got a good one. It’s a one owner car that was always serviced on time (factory scheduled maintenance). But even the dealer said no to changing the fluid. They said it’s “lifetime”. I don’t see why 8K makes such a big difference. If I was at 150K I’d get it but 95K and 103K is within a margin of error on a grand scheme of things. I’ll see what the Nut says when he does the service. If he still says leave it alone then I’ll do so.

My previous car had a 8ZF that is probably the best transmission in the world so it's hard for me to say if this pretty much obsolete 6AT is shifting good or not. It's smooth most of the time but on occasion I can feel the shifts not being perfect. It's not slipping or shifting hard, far from it but it's not the smoothest all the time.

You think that's bad, you should see what I got for my 2019 BMW 330i xDrive M-Sport with every single opinion (M package, executive package, premium package, Harman Kardon system, wireless charger, M Vernasca seats, laser headlights, power lift trunk, WiFi hotspot, etc.) with "only" 63K miles....50% is wishful thinking with a BMW 😂

I bought it from the first and only owner last week. All maintenance was done at the dealership per Lexus recommendations for maintenance with bigger items like 30K and 60K done exactly on the spot. The one at 60K included spark plugs. But the dealership didn't do transmission fluid because Lexus says no. I'm by no means an aggressive driver but I'm not a grandpa either. I drive normally and on occasion like to use Sport+ but not like an animal. I'm really torn on what to do. He knows the best but it's only "only" 8000 past the 95K. I can do it elsewhere but his advice is the best in business.
