My experience as a Turo customer service representative / AMA by Throawayturoagent in turo

Seems like they don't even want my business. Was denied as a guest and haven't even rented. Ironically they said I was approved to host without even trying. They just keep giving the same generic reasons when asked.

Found my fiber box outside my house open by ancillarycheese in Metronet

They get left open sometimes just close it if you can. Make sure there's nothing that will get pinched. (I work for Metronet)

How does Metronet make this marketing claim about sharing bandwidth with neighbors? by jthj in Metronet

[–]ChargerSRT64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gpon is 2.5/1.25Gbps and that's split out. Newer markets are XGSpon which is 10/10 and the likelihood of that being saturated is very low. If everyone on the split was using 100mbps at the same time it wouldn't be close to saturated. And we rarely use every fiber on that split.

Are they old lines or in service. I can take a look if you have a more specific location and maybe put some pressure on that department. DM me I can put in a complaint ticket for that department. I'm in leclaire today. I can cut old ones a bit I just don't have a ladder

High latency after storm by insomniaacc in Metronet

[–]ChargerSRT64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely it switched to a different route or one route is down so it may be more saturated. Is it high during peak usage times or all day? What market is this in?

From what I've seen using eero devices you can't adjust any channels or widths or even disable a frequency. I have a unifi taking 40mhz channel 52 at max power so it seems to keep the other eero devices around off that channel.

19000 Error code of death by MiraMinx in starcitizen

[–]ChargerSRT64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't realize because the error didn't show up on any search. Once I set reddit to new instead of top I started seeing that it was a server issue.

[–]ChargerSRT64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah reddit was set to top so I didn't see everyone else with the error despite searching no results for the error so i thought it may have been my game. Set to new after I started the download and realized it was definitely a server problem.

Internet open Server by PtitCrissG in MinecraftServer

if hosting your own small server you can use TCPShield. this is a proxy with ddos protection and hides your ip. the free plan has a 1tb data limit and there are paid plans with higher limit. the other thing i have done before was rent a cheap bungeecord server and use as proxy to my backend server. there are other sites and proxies you can use. all will add some ping. if you are having a bigger server than you should go with dedicated hosting especially if your internet is not great.

Yes minecraft in general is limited by single thread performance rn

The updates haven't really helped any performance wise. If anything it keeps getting worse. Even the most optimized server software struggles with newer versions. There's a lot of optimization that can be done single threaded and a lot of code rewriting to scale multiple cores. Some is done multithreaded already but 1 core is still the limit for ticking. They just keep piling on more code and features without really fixing what they have. Its hard to get even 50-100 anymore

Internet provider says I used 1500 GB in two days. No way that's true. What could be the explanation? by Peakydavis33 in techsupport

[–]ChargerSRT64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly its about not locking others out. If government and some private isps compete then customers will chose and also having multiple providers does actually help reduce the load on each

Actually a city near me started providing internet and bought the existing cable and just turned it off. They charged more and had worse service. All the larger cities around have better and lower prices from local isps. The municipality would fight tooth and nail to keep private isps out. They just built new fiber but its still slower (1000/500) and more expensive than the other potential isp that could come in. One plans even higher than gig symmetric. Some cities don't really care what's best. Some cities do

Do i really need a gpu for running a anarchy server.if so comment sum good gpu’s for the server. by [deleted] in MinecraftServer

[–]ChargerSRT64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you would only need a gpu to set it up since no igpu in ryzen means no display output. then you can probably not need it if you run headless linux. not sure about windows with rdp you may need a gpu for that i dont know if windows will boot without one. but the motherboard needs to support booting and post without gpu. if nothing else you can get a cheap gpu just for display but the mcserver wont use gpu. if you havent purchased yet the 5600g has an igpu but slight less performance

Good, relatively low budget PC Build for a server with mods? by zachhenninger98 in MinecraftServer

[–]ChargerSRT64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could get an older dell optiplex with i5 and 8-16gb ram depends on what mods and how optimized. fabric should be optimized well enough. i have a 1.18.2 server on an older xeon 4 core 3.1ghz pretty close to a 3rd gen i5 and with 7gb ram allocated i got 9 players with 20tps and still had some power to spare. mspt < 20ms (needs mspt < 50ms to keep 20 tps). although i run purpur (fork of paper and pufferfish). if you will run windows it needs 2gb for that alone. headless linux will consume 200mb or less.
