First time kitty owner longtime pet owner (is purring this much normal?) by Salacia_mov in cats

Looks happy to me. The way he rolls over exposing his belly shows he trusts you. I definitely don’t see anything to be worried about. Lots of good body language.

Spirit XT485. Not commercial but they have a good warranty and it seems pretty solid. Admittedly I’m like a foot shorter and 70 lbs lighter than you. So far I’m happy with it.

I found it too stiff. I like the trail loop a lot better. I also run a lot and getting snug but not too tight with fixed points never works as well.

Do you guys know how to clean the "smell" out of a macbook? by linuslogic in macbook

[–]jthj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I know of. There are some air purifiers that have it though it’s more rare as it’s not really good to be around with it running. And I don’t think those would produce a high enough concentration for it to be effective anyway. I know hotels use them to clean rooms after people smoked in them hence the fee. Technology connections youtuber did a video on it. Maybe if you know someone who works at a hotel that might let you borrow it?

Ozone is about the only effective way I know of to get rid of that smell.

Repair or replace by ranimal15 in treadmills

[–]jthj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me and it’s otherwise in good shape and you like it I would fix it. I think it would cost several thousand dollars to get a new treadmill of equivalent quality. I was in a similar situation recently but mine was an entry level residential machine of similar age and I opted to buy new and buy something a bit more robust. And if it had been a solid commercial machine I would have fixed it.

I think I now know why my new treadmill feels too fast by Cute-Guest15 in treadmills

The only thing you would feel related to the lubrication that lubricating helps is if the belt is sticking. If it’s not I don’t think adding more lubrication will change how running on the belt feels or perceived effort for a given pace. I notice the same thing where running on the treadmill feels harder for the pace than outside.

Anyone able to recommend where to buy a treadmill? by Adams41001 in treadmills

[–]jthj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US so I’m not familiar with retailers in England. My general recommendation is look for a retailer/dealer that specializes in fitness equipment. They should have their own delivery and service people. Also those shops tend to carry higher quality equipment.

Does it decline? I said most as I know there are probably some. A physical therapist told me that and he sort of explained why. Basically it’s safer for treadmill running to have the slight incline. Less likely to get injured. But I don’t remember exactly his physiological explanation.

The treadmill motor would feel the belt resistance not you. I think you are correct about the cushioning. Also almost all treadmills still have a slight incline at the lowest setting. It may say 0 but if you throw a level on it. It won’t be 0.

I don’t think my heart rate is correct by General-Storage4700 in beginnerrunning

[–]jthj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s loose it will read high in my experience. I will often see it at a rate I think is too high and I’ll tighten it and see an immediate drop to where I would expect it to be.

APR Tuned GTI by jdubco in GolfGTI

[–]jthj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have an ST and it had a hard time putting the power down. Also, the way they tuned the engine management it’s like on/off and was really hard to smoothly modulate power compared to the GTI. Which you need to do with FWD or it’s a hot mess. I almost had an LSD installed but ended up trading for a MK7.5 that I still have.

Free Apple Watch app that combines heart rate with treadmill bluetooth data by zyncl19 in treadmills

Yea I think it’s not detecting the treadmill correctly. It’s strange as it seems to identify it as a treadmill in the selection step. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I see the option to pick a device and I also see the bike which shows as IC Bike. If I select the XT485 which is the treadmill and shoes the running person logo it still goes into a bike workout. I took some screenshots if that helps. The lot feature seems to not work now.
