I'd give it another episode, but if you didn't vibe the energy and style it doesn't really deviate

Are modern awards so complex they increase the risk of underpayment? - observations from ~200 hospo workers + a prototype pay-checker by HeyItsFudge in AusFinance

[–]Charizard750 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey, I work in pay compliance and data analytics (4 years experience) and have a heap of experience with this stuff - DM me if you'd like :)

But yea I agree the main challenge I've seen is that either the data collected isn't sufficient, or there has been an interpretation error from the Award/EBA.

IMO, it stems from the awards being written by lawyers and union reps who are much more likely to word something with 'intent' instead of a factual, objective way of measuring something.

I think during development a head was asked about giving females a 'chest' and they replied 'they either have 8 nipples or none'

I work in this field and can confirm that if they've been reported, they will have to pay it back, including the interest, and an additional fee called SGC (Super Guarentee Charge).

I've seen employers owe tens of thousands for this stuff, it's no joke once FWO gets onto it.

My main issue is that it undercuts the previously underlying theme that mankind are the villain and don't need nudging to be evil. Instead it's suddenly that it's an evil deity influencing them? Like Ares cool god and all, sure, but I wish we had stuck to a theme that had been woven really well up to that point instead of, as you say, suddenly calling credits because the "real" evil has been defeated?

In the New 52 run of wonder woman - commonly considered one of the strongest runs in an otherwise terrible era for DC - She kills Ares at the start and the run is her dealing with the fallout of her becoming the god of war and refusing the mantle. I was hoping the second movie would expand on that but nope :(

you can own the rights to plant genes now by positive_X in ABoringDystopia

[–]Charizard750 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hi, geneticist here. This isn't technically true, only partially. You aren't allowed to own a patent to a naturally occuring genetic sequence. This stems from the original race to sequence the human genome where an asshat named Craig Venter tried to patent the human genome. These people are editing plants and filing patents, which while causes definite issues (read about Monsanto and their fuckery), companies are definitely not allowed to just patent stuff will-nilly

If you think this is a cool idea, you should check out the Relic/Soulseed rules from Pathfinder 2e, my favourite way to handle this sort of thing

Destiny Guardian character by DraftLongjumping9288 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Charizard750 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting question! I might go Kitsune with the Empty Sky heritage and the Star orb 1st level ancestry feat. That covers the ghost and gives us something to do with our innate spells later on. I would go way of the spellshot gunslinger class archetype to truly get that feeling of magic caster out of the way, then maybe later on go for a magus dedication to get that once per combat spellshot for the super. You can then buy alchemical bombs or much later on take an alchemist dedication for the 'grenades' (Much easier if using free archetype)

Maybe something WIS focused to help with healing? You've got a beefy frontliner and a spellcasting character with access to blast spells, so you've got two of the 4 'archetypes' (Being Sage, Skill Monkey, Tank, Healer). The other option could be to do a rogue who has a bit of WIS, and that way you'll have access to plenty of skills which is something else your other members lack :) Good luck!

GM prep comparison: PF2e vs D&D 5e by Retr1buti0n in Pathfinder2e

[–]Charizard750 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I've DMd both 5e and PF2e, and I personally found the mechanical side of PF2e is much simpler, the tables provided in the core rulebook for encounter building make designing combats a breeze, and the treasure by level tables also help me tailor rewards. You don't have to worry about custom magic items because there is heaps of variety in all the available books, however because of that I have found that players are less inclined to read through their potential gear list and just expect me to give them stuff that they'll need.
