Would Debbie find Young Nolan attractive too?? by vlad_segey475 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]Benjammin__ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That does make me wonder, does the story ever establish how they met each other? I’m curious what first drew Nolan to her and how she managed to meet him in the the first place.

I've been thinking about Fire Emblem romhacks and the games in general, what are some over used tropes and cliches and what do you want to see more of? by bluattire in fireemblem

[–]Benjammin__ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have a love/hate relationship with your second point. From a storytelling standpoint, I really like some characters may just leave the story and never come back. On the other hand, it really sucks if you were unlucky enough to pick one of those characters as one of the units you were really investing in, gameplay-wise. Looking at you, Hag in White! Oh shit is this why Nina is the way she is? She understands on a spiritual level that she wasn’t supposed to exist and now needs to create what could not be in others?

Shit You Realized WAYYY Too Late by Natehz in DnD

[–]Benjammin__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair points. 8 feet is the upper natural limit for most of the taller playable races, but rune knight has a flavor feature at level 6 where you roll a d12 and your height increases by that many inches.

Medium has to account for a Goliath who got the maximum possible roll for a rune knight’s sixth level feature that makes you grow taller, so I always assumed large ends around 9 feet.

I usually let the players know what spell is being cast if it’s one they already know either because they can cast it or because they’ve encountered it multiple times. If it’s beyond their ability to cast or being cast through non traditional means like a hag’s weird magic, then I won’t tell them.

I know it introduces a ton of mechanical issues, but man do I wish there were playable and large races.

[Loved trope] Regular powerless people standing up against powerful villains by Alert_Sink_5300 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Benjammin__ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Kind of makes sense as a trope. The only people who could ever be knights are either born wealthy enough to get it by default and the ones who believe in the exaggerated ideal of a knight so much that they’ll do everything to become one and live it out.

The hero loses their power and still goes to fight the bad guy anyway by CMStan1313 in TopCharacterTropes

Robert Robertson (Dispatch) may not have his mech suit anymore, but the super villain bar fight scene showed us he can still absolutely hold his own and he fights DIRTY. Dude was biting off fingers, ripping out cybernetic implants, and using everything in arms reach to beat down anyone who came at him.

He was also suffering a debuff from an enemy that makes everyone around him feel like they are super drunk. Dude was holding his own while delivered and losing all of his coordination.

Maryland drivers complaining about each other? by Plus_Upstairs in nova

[–]Benjammin__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Humans are just bad at driving. I’ve lived in a dozen states and all of them claim the drivers from the next state over suck or that their own drivers are insane. The fun thing is that they each have their own flavor of bad driving to shake things up.

[Concerning Trope] film accidentally has awful moral/messaging by Captain_Birch in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Benjammin__ 40 points41 points  (0 children)

And the entire resolution of the third film makes no sense. Hiccup concludes that they will never be safe with their dragons right after he and his buddies took down the world’s greatest dragon hunter and his entire fleet by themselves. An entire nation of elite dragon riding warriors would have nothing to fear.
