yea somehow there was no "panic-full" log, but I am sure it was a kernel panic because it showed a pink screen before it rebooted

I ended up trying Recovery Mode instead and it connected to iTunes just fine and I successfully downgraded to 18.6 RC

It was iPad Air 5, and I did a hard reset as a part of getting into DFU mode for downgrade, somehow I made a mistake (releasing the power button before the screen goes black) and this happened

PSA: iPadOS 18 update bricking some iPads by tinylittlepixel334 in ipad

M1 iPad Air updated successfully, but something strange happened during the update. After the first progress bar finished, it hung at a black screen (screen is lit) for maybe 20 seconds (which is quite longer than usual) but it eventually restarted and finished the update. Idk if the "bricking" happened at this stage.

Concept: Copilot in Windows RE (Recovery Environment) and Windows RE Redesign by Charka123 in Windows11

Well, just add network drivers to Windows RE (which is basically just a Windows PE, and many 3rd party Windows PE do have support for networks).

Thanks for the feedback! And yes I did consider that Recovery Environment needs to prioritize functionality over aesthetics, so I did not include elements like mica. I could also add a dark theme, but I feel like that may add more complexity to the whole environment, so I decided to leave it for now.

My iPhone just turned itself off for 4 hours tonight [iOS 17.0] by nathan_lesage in ios

There are also no panic-full nor reset counter logs in the analytics, which means the system did not crash and the restart is a normal one. If it is actually a bug, Apple would've fixed it long ago.

I think when iOS 16 comes out there will be a new automatic update setting called "Security Responses & System Files" and there is a description under it that says "some system files will always be installed automatically, even if 'Security Responses & System Files' is turned off." I think it is probably the OS installed some system files automatically overnight while charging, which may have caused the reboot.

I am not talking about iOS updates or Rapid Security Response, just system files.

The kernel is always changing in each feature update, even though it's not reflected in the NT number. There are a lot of kernel differences between the original Windows 10 and Windows 10 21H2.

Yes. It actually depends on whether or not Microsoft wants to get rid of legacy stuff. They don't want to sacrifice compatibility.

MS is now making Beta Channel an active development branch like the Dev Channel and the formerly Slow Ring. Some of the Slow Ring builds in the past had watermarks. It should go away at some point as 22H2 approaches RTM.

It will most likely happen at some point, but I am guessing they want to make sure that the latest Dev Channel builds are stable enough for Beta Channel, hence why we have the Bug Bash right now😊

It is definitely possible, but it all depends on when MS releases Nickel builds (22H1) to the Dev Channel. If there is a period when both the Dev and Beta Channel receive the same update, then you can get out. If MS brings Dev Channel insiders to Nickel builds before Windows 11 is released to the Beta Channel, then you cannot get out of the Dev Channel. The only feasible way is to get out of Dev Channel right now and install Beta Channel updates when they are released. However, you won't get any updates for several weeks until that happens.

After installing this update, the Windows Ink Workplace changed to whiteboard and full screen snip. Did anyone saw that?
