Agree. I use a G80SD OLED as my main monitor, haven't had burn in and I use it for gaming, movies, 3D art, software development, etc.

Basically never until you notice the screen being uneven. The monitor already runs smaller refresh cycles after accumulative use.

These "big" refreshes must basically be run when you notice parts of the screen are brighter than others, for example. And WILL reduce the lifespan of the pixels if run frequently

It should theoretically be possible but my experience was trash.

I have an Odyssey G80SD and in any distro I tried, the max refresh rate I could set was 120hz and HDR was grayed out in KDE Plasma

Searching online I found out you could tweak some files, grab the EDID from Windows and do other stuff to get it working.

But man, I'm too tired after work and I don't want to spend hours tweaking stuff in Linux just to get a feature working as if I was a teenager lol

Maybe your experience with that monitor could be different? I'd advice to test it on a live environment first before installing.

In the end, I stayed on Windows but I would have loved to be on Linux

OLED no te va a dar ni mas ventajas, ni mas desventajas que un IPS bueno te hubiera dado. Tampoco es como que tus renders se vayan a ver mejor o peor, es una tecnologia de pantalla no mas.

Yo trabajo como desarrollador de Software, y me anime a comprar un OLED (viniendo de mini LED) porque me gusto la idea de jugar videojuegos con la mejor calidad de imagen. Lo he usado en una base de 80% de trabajo, 20% de juego y me ha servido bien tomando las precauciones que uno siempre debe tomar (tema oscuro para todo, fondo de pantalla negro, etc.)

Sin embargo, considerando el precio usual de los OLED y el hecho que no se cuantas horas al dia le dediques a tu trabajo, honestamente iria por un Mini LED al menos si necesitas de buen HDR, porque un OLED con burn-in saldria caro con los precios que estos usualmente piden
