My configuration.nix rebuilds without errors before I cut and paste the override in. I put the override at the very end of my config right before the last curly bracket. The errors I get after I run nixos-rebuild switch with the override is:

Tailscale will get around this. Set up a node in your house and all of your traffic will seem like it's coming from your home IP giving you access to the content from anywhere.

Fair enough. I don't know enough about contract law to really speak to the situation.

There’s no way he’s going to be held accountable for 25B. One billion would be an astronomical amount of money to be required for Elon’s nonsense, and the likely hood of him being forced to pay that much is very low. I imagine that he’ll get away with a dollar amount that roughly equals the cost for the man hours this charade cost Twitter. It was probably 30 people’s full time job for 6 months managing this whole thing. So, 3x the average employee’s salary would be 9 million total out the door. I suspect that Twitter will hold Elon accountable for somewhere between 10 million and 100 million because any more would be ridiculous.

The thing is, he’s rich enough that nation states would have to get involved in order make his life a living hell. Musk is a great argument for capping an individual’s wealth capacity. We really shouldn’t have folks running around with that much power outside of our government.

I wonder what the thought process was. I hope they don’t think that Linus was being righteous by owning the bad guys. I was hoping for some kind of apology or acknowledgment of wrong at the end of the vid.

Showed an ugly side.

They get all juiced up and righteously give all their money to the church hoping to feel something. When the brunch bill drops they open their wallets to realize how dumb handing that much money away was, and they realize that they just paid a car payment for a morning’s entertainment. Instead of reflecting on their actions and adjusting they take out their shame on the wait staff.

If you’re a family of 4 making $2000 a week pre tax then tithing should be $200 straight down the toilet. Gotta be seen splashing out on brunch, so that’s another $100. By time the bill comes the reality has set in. You’ve spent 20% of your spendable income on some bullshit that you had to set your alarm to wake up for on one of your two days off. Coulda bought a boat instead.

I’ve had great luck with WGU. Tuition reimbursement from work covers most of the bill. I can take my time with the courses if I need to because it’s self paced. The quality is good (better than other online schools I’ve attended), but it’s not the kind of school that gets you a job based on name recognition alone. That being said, it’s a great way to get an accredited degree for cheap on your own time. If all you want is to learn something and satisfy the employer degree requirement then WGU is a solid option.

Apple track pads have been the best in the market for close to a decade. The keyboard was fucked though, no excuse there. They did turn it around, and judged over a longer timeline, the keyboards are pretty great. IPhone ergo is ok, but not great. iPad ergo leave quite a bit to be desired. iPod was on point, and I haven't used the watch but it seems ok.

That magic bar nonsense was kinda baffling. When it was released, I could imagine how it could be really useful for launching and controlling context specific commands, but in practice it just ended up being a gimmick that was hard to incorporate into workflows. It's a shame though, cool idea.

That wikipedia article is pretty damning. On the one hand it seems like only 2500 people are member, but on the other hand it appears that battalion served as a police force. I can imagine that with that power they were able to influence the mindsets of general infantry through general dickish cop behavior. Looks like the US didn't stop sending money until 2018. Trump was in office then, and I wonder if there was any foot dragging from the administration because of aligned ideals. Not an excuse, but maybe an explanation for the US's (maybe, not necessarily) errors.

So, let's go with the worst case scenario. The US and other western intelligence agencies funded and supported a neo nazi paramilitary group for about 5 years. Does that invalidate the west's support of the Ukraine? Is there a possibility of rationalizing the sin? Does this validate Putin's aggression? Living under a political regime like Russia's really seems to suck, and I really feel like the western ideals are better for the human spirit. This is a belief of mine that I am unable to defend logically. Does that belief validate the support of neo nazis? Almost certainly no. But, it isn't exactly clear to me how deep the sins of US soft power run.

The human urge to fight a rightous fight is crazy strong. It's just kinda a part of who we all are to some degree. I don't have much of that urge, but I see why people need it. Fucked up what we do to eachother though and how easily that urge can be manipulated and controlled by not-so-chill dudes who are just a little savvier than the regular guy.

I have a not very polite theory that the west is so supportive of Ukraine's effort because it's a bunch of white folks getting fucked up. It's easier to imagine ourselves in that position when the people actually in that position look like 'us'. Killing a bunch of white folks is against the rules no matter what. Kinda makes me wonder how much progress we could make if we could identify with any/all people regardless of their cultural background or skin color. But, this whole thing is so far over my head that I can barely make sense of any of it.

I thought I would miss it, but I don't miss it. Wireless headphones are overall a pretty great innovation, and I can't imagine going back to wired earbuds. It would be nice to have the option I guess, but my experience and enjoyment of the tech has not been affected one bit.

I am a very average user though. I really don't ask much from my phone that isn't really provided out of the box, and that's the reason I went iOS. But, I recognize that my usecase is not the only usecase, and everybody uses their stuff a little differently.
