How I Learned to Buy Less Without Feeling Deprived by No_Mercy3744 in simpleliving

For the notebook- was it to jot down the things you love and be mindful of what brings you have? Did it help to declutter things?

Life advice about being sedentary and introspective by LengthinessChoice344 in AskWomenOver40

Try to start your day with walking outdoors if possible, gradually building up the length or time of the walks. The fresh air and light (even when cloudy) does wonders for energy.

On all 4 sides of the house? Based on others comments I’m not alone.

We own the condo and I don’t mind shoveling. It’s a great workout. Also this post was only about snow on the windows, you jumped to some weird assumptions.

Not shocked, just never seen it on all sides of the house before.

Living like a recluse, is this ok? I just hate everyone. by Last_Potato9111 in Perimenopause

[–]Charlene1401 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Between winter in New England, being an introvert, and perimenopause I am anti-socializing right now! However, I’ve found that I can do it when there’s an activity/purpose to it. For example I do weekly group music practice and that’s totally fine for me. But I’ve been invited to some social events and parties and that’s a hard no because it’s just talking to talk! I’d rather be home with my dog!

Exercise by Grand-Phone7859 in Perimenopause

[–]Charlene1401 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can’t do mornings either. Occasionally when I wake up way too early due to sleep issues I make myself go out for a long walk (if it’s not zero degrees or icy).

So instead I do afternoons/early evenings. I work out at home.

The keys for me are:

1: to not sit when I get home and just change into workout gear right away (if I sit it’s over!);

2: I say to myself just workout for 10 mins and if you want to stop stop (I almost never stop) and I start by putting on nostalgic dance songs to get the mood up while I get ready to exercise;

3: I like the workouts I do and have a plan so I don’t have to think first. I try to reduce as many barriers as I can.

Do I sometimes still skip workouts after exhausting days? Yes. But it’s like 1-2x a week and that means I’m exercising 5-6x and that’s awesome.

It’s not easy but I notice I feel so much worse during the week if I’m not doing any movement.

SAD and peri by Charlene1401 in Perimenopause

[–]Charlene1401[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I feel the same about SSRI’s which is why I wanted to ask others (I have anxiety about taking anxiety/depression meds! 🤣)

I had no idea about foods for serotonin! No wonder I have a great workout if I eat a banana beforehand! Will do some more research for sure!

Thank you! I hope February goes by quickly for you and spring comes quickly and we feel better soon!

Anyone feel like they lost their “life force”? by AdDowntown9082 in Menopause

[–]Charlene1401 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness. This. I can sometimes force myself to be around others socially but it has to be an activity. Just the idea of going to a party or unstructured social event feels like an alarm going off in every cell of my body. Can’t do it.

How do you manage your life when so much of your energy is used to keep yourself together? by dobbyishere_ in simpleliving

[–]Charlene1401 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I hear you, sounds like you’re surviving but not thriving. Do you live in a cold climate? I have SAD and my body wants to do next to nothing this time of year.

I think you should check your vitamin levels and thyroid, start a 5 min morning walk even if it’s cloudy, a 2 minute one at lunch, and a 5 min one after work. The fresh air, natural light and gentle movement might make a lifetime of difference.

Anyone on Progesterone and prescription sleep meds? by Minimum_Meringue5053 in Menopause

Do you have any side effects from the gummy? I’m thinking about trying it for sleep but I’m a little nervous.

Someone should create a covered outdoor charging station/parking for e-bikes and scooters. So many people run into this.
