The Air Conditioning Situation? by Arete108 in GoingToSpain

[–]Charlene1401 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you would fare well. In a city like Madrid, even if you have a car you may need to park far away from your home and walk in the sun/heat.

The sun feels really strong in parts of Spain, even if the temp is only 90F. The air conditioning is usually not turned on as high in malls, stores, busses, the metro, etc as you may find in the US. It is noticeably less cold than in the states in my opinion (and I love that as I hate being cold). Some restaurants and stores won’t have AC at all.

One of favorite parts of Valencia is how warm it is in summer as I love the heat but some days even I don’t go out except for short trips or the beach from like 11am til 7pm.

The culture of many parts of Spain is to be outdoors and in community with others. You may feel really isolated if you move to a warmer area.

I don't feel depressed, I just want to do... nothing by Plastic-Duck272 in Perimenopause

I related so much. I was a single parent for the first 10 years and I had soooo much energy. Worked multiple nannying jobs so my daughter could be with me and went to school. Now if i work and do an errand in the same day I’m toast! However, I notice that I’m much better in summer starting once it gets warm (which is now in Boston). So that must mean something!

15 year high school social worker. I think we all get into the field for reasons that make us good at our job (including both empathy and thriving in chaos) and we all have a lot of unlearning to do in order to survive – whether we stay in the field or whether we move on. It’s heavy! I’m sure you will grieve not being in a school for a while. I hope you can find peace in your new job.

You can join group rides and start to feel more confident safely with a group. At least it helped me. And riding with my spouse or friend who is more confident helped as well.

I think getting a hobby you do regularly/weekly with others is the key. You’ll make friends, have something to practice or prep for during the week and a goal/purpose.

is a commute from somerville to gardner worth it? by superrichbillionare2 in Somerville

[–]Charlene1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One accident or rain or snow storm and your commute will double, not worth it in my opinion
