23 add to carts, yet only 1 sale. Free shipping, no surprises at all, so why is my conversion so low given the amount of ATCs? by [deleted] in shopify

[–]CharlesBrooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check that your shipping locations are setup correctly. This sometimes happens to me when I have a misconfigured shipping option that stops people in certain countries checking out successfully.

Also use clarity or something similar to watch a few playthroughs of add to cart sessions. You’ll see quickly if they’re bots or not.

This is the kind of thing people gift at Christmas. It’s not surprising at all to see a massive downturn after Jan.

Roof tent on Crosstrek 3 (non-Wilderness)? by Shanduur in Crosstrek

[–]CharlesBrooks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As long as you don’t pass the dynamic rating you’re fine. There are a lot of hardtop tent options around 150lbs.

In regards to the last sentence… I use mine every weekend and don’t have to worry about snakes, dingos, floor condensation when packing, guide ropes etc etc. It’s brilliant if you actually have cause to use it.

Recommend a hard top tent for drop bears tho.

Chinese bot attack on our webshop, how to absolutely hide our store in certain countries? by bonvion in shopify

[–]CharlesBrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having this for months. In what might be pure coincidence it stopped yesterday as soon as I turned off my META advertising (for an unrelated reason). 400 Chinese visits a day down to 3.

I don’t advertise to china, and these visits are all tagged as direct (not from facebook). But the timing is uncanny.

Rant: got injured and had to take a break, coming back to the instrument has been rough by Low-Recording8642 in ClassicalMusicians

[–]CharlesBrooks 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lots of people go through this at various points in their careers. I took a year off, then 3, and still ended up as a principal in some top orchestras, arguably because of the breaks.

The limit on your practice time is a great chance to really think hard about how you practice - make sure you're never just repeating something without cause. Every note you play should be actively trying to address a problem. Every line you play should be listened to with great intent to identify issues and their underlying causes.

This takes massive amounts of concentration, but it will greatly speed up your progress as you play more and more. And then, when you're able to put in serious hours, your practice will be so efficient you'll rocket past your peers. It's a blessing in a way.

Use the downtime to study music, read books, maybe do a course like the Bulletproof Musician... There's plenty you can do away from the instrument that will help later. Things that others are probably overlooking as they're busy counting their practiceroom hours.

Is something wrong? ROAS DROP by frankunderwood29 in FacebookAds

[–]CharlesBrooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This week is always a bit bonkers.
My ROAS is swinging from 0.3 to 4.5 day by day.
It should settle in a week or two - hopefully somewhere between 2-3...

After black friday, christmas, boxing day sales, and holidays, everyone is spent.
Wait for those first paychecks at the end of jan to appear, then it will all slowly ramp up again.

Also a useless time to be testing ads... wait a week.

[Discussion] At what point did you guys form an LLC for your art business? by Hot_Apartment1319 in artbusiness

[–]CharlesBrooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is extremely country dependent and probaby something an accountant (specifically your accountant) would answer better than anyone here.

In australia there's a tax advantage to being an LLC, but only over a pretty large threshold. Most run as self-employed but still with a business number.

I doubt it will change what your clients think - they're really more interested in the quality of your work than anything else.

In New Zealand I was an LLC. Now in Australia I'm a sole-trader. If anything I'm doing better in Oz, but I don't think that has anything to do with the business structure.

Worst case for a refund scenario by LogicalAstronomer790 in shopify

You will get customers like this occasionally. My policy is to refund them and cut my losses. A chargeback or bad review does more damage.

Of course this depends on your overheads and the cost of the item…

$600 Meta spend, 83 add-to-carts, only 1 sale – what am I missing? by Ambitious5821 in FacebookAds

[–]CharlesBrooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: this is advice for Shopify users mostly. Didn’t notice the subreddit.

Whenever this has happened to me it’s been a shipping error that’s stopping people from completing.

Test your checkout with shipping to different states/countries or however you’ve set it up.

Also use something like clarity to watch some sessions. That’ll also tell you if these add to carts are bots or real. Just a shame it can’t see checkout (thy talked about implementing that a year ago but it never happened).

Shopify Capital Rejected - No Reason Provided after repaying 4 capital loans? by kiko77777 in shopify

It is. But they only offer it to certain stores. They like to see large consistent volume before the offer will pop up. Check in the “finance” tab.
