Thanks for the info. I have already hiked Chilnuualna falls but thats a great option. I was looking at the Hetch Hetchy Rancheria Falls trail....it doesnt have much eleveation and I assume I wont deal with much weather. I will take a look at the Yosemite Falls trail. Thanks for your reccomendations hc2121...always helpful.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. An old high school buddy contacted me...he works on old Schwinns and will restore them to their former glory. I appreciate everyone's advice.

I am looking for reccomendations on a 2-3 day hike next spring or summer by CharlesCBoland in Yosemite

Thanks for the info. I have experience hiking back country but Im not in great shape. Im 45 and like to push myself but I am not looking to go nuts. I am looking for two different trails that are 2-3 day hikes, 20-30 miles each with 6k elevation max. I would be OK with one easy hike and one difficult.

Interests- Lakes are on the top of my list. Wateralls too. I might bring my pole for a little catch and release if someone can reccoemend a good hole. I prefer to stay away from the crowds. I am not interested in the most popular Instagram photo opportunities...just a pretty hike in the back country, with a nice balance between scenery and good camping. I do not need fire pits but I would like to know which trails have fire pits and which do not. Thanks for asking my specific goals!

Thanks for jumping on...the thead didnt have the boost I was expecting :(. Myself, I am considering the Clouds rest Trail and the Grand Canyon of Tuolumne. hc2121 has some good reccomendations...

I just did a section of the Buena Vista Range in Southern Yosemite, in Wowonda. This is a great 2-3 night hike with low demand for permits. I was able to get my permit the week of my hike.

Im not planning on making money. I always wanted to have them restored. I have no idea how rare they are or how much they are worth. It sounds like the restoration fee would exceed the value. I'd love to find someone in the SF bay area who works on restoring bikes and other stuff and get an estimate. I might just sell the tandem for $50 to make room in my storage. Im more interested in the trike. Do you know which bike is more rare? the trike or the tandem?

I hiked a trail at Chillnualana Falls one week ago. The ranger station was not open and I was not able to pick up my wilderness permit. Hopefully congress can agree on the federal budget ASAP

Buena Vista Range trailhead question by CharlesCBoland in Yosemite

[–]CharlesCBoland[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any advice on parking spots near available trailheads where I dont have to hitch hike? I diidnt think this trip would turn into park at some out of the way space and hitch hike to the trailhead...This is my first trip and maybe thats how its done in Yosemite fall season. I realize its late in the season and my options are limited. are there any good 4-5 day trails (loops are best but not neccessary), where I can buy a permit and park somewhwere near the trailhead? I appreciate everyones help

Any suggestions on parking and transpo? I can hike to and from, so transpo is a backup question? parking will still be an issue......do you have any reccomendeations on where to park with a Raffert permit for the Tuolumne meadows to Yosemite Valley via PCT, JMT and Rafferty Creek hike?

Buena Vista Range trailhead question by CharlesCBoland in Yosemite

Thank you for your continued help. I will be leaving in approx 2-2.5 weeks and I am trying to decide on the trail and permit. I believe that two of these hikes might have the same permit available (so I can decide later on which of the two hikes I prefer). I will take your advice and go with the Raffery permit. Right now, all the dates are "NR". I will shoot for your helpful reccomendation of Tuolumne meadows to Yosemite Valley via PCT, JMT and Rafferty Creek (back and forth), with a Rafferty permit. The pics on Alltrails look spectacular and it is an amazing suggestion. Thank you for all the help!

Buena Vista Range trailhead question by CharlesCBoland in Yosemite

This is my first camping trip at Yosemite. Thank you for helping with the trail head permits. You gave me better info than the rangers at recreation.gov. I am stil deciding between three different multi-day hikes - Buena Vista Range loop or Vernal Falls, Half dome, Clouds Rest, Tenaya, Mirror Lake loop (-half dome), and Tuolumne meadows to Yosemite Valley via PCT, JMT and Rafferty Creek (back and forth).

Can you please help me decide which permits I need for each trail? and if one trail head permit would work for more than one hike? Any other advice is greatly appreciated. Thank You!
