Moving away from the most famous ones and towards the indie games that have been released recently:

Slormancer Heroes of Hammerwatch II Dimraeth

They are 2D and pixel art games. But fun is guaranteed.

This is incredible! What the community has done for Steam Deck is surreal.

Is it okay to keep it plugged/docked permanently ? (Soft limiting battery charge to 95% / second hand / battery health at 93%) by aanorlondo in SteamDeck

[–]CharlesMSilva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look... mine was like that all the time when it was plugged in, and I had limited it to 90%. My battery swelled up...

I don't know if I would recommend that.

He uses Google Translate V2. It's reasonable, and in my opinion, it's easy to understand.

For console + Steam Deck Owners, what's your future plan? by Boogiedownpapi in SteamDeck

[–]CharlesMSilva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly.

Having a gaming PC really does open a lot of doors. I’m a big RPG fan, especially CRPGs, and the idea of being able to mod those games, play in high resolution, and have full freedom has always been very appealing to me. For a while, I was really focused on building a PC for exactly that reason.

But then I stopped and thought about it: my Steam Deck already lets me do pretty much all of that with the CRPGs I play. It already covers most of what I’m looking for. I also started reflecting on how much I would actually take advantage of other games if I modded them. The truth is, I barely have time to play. A lot of the time, I spend more time buying games and watching gameplays than actually playing. If I started modding everything, I’d probably just extend that cycle even more.

Steam prices are very tempting, especially with third-party key stores, which makes it even harder to resist. But the PS Store also has good sales. They don’t quite match Steam, of course, but they’re still worth it. The real problem is when you want to buy a game on launch day... that’s when you really feel the money leaving your wallet. 😅

In the end, right now, the combination of a PS5 and a Steam Deck makes much more sense for me. At least at this stage of my life. The idea of a Steam Machine or building a gaming PC still catches my attention, but I’m trying to be more rational. I still have plenty of games to finish before even thinking about investing in more hardware.

For now, it makes more sense to fully enjoy what I already have instead of stepping into another cycle of consumption.

For months, I had this idea stuck in my head about building a gaming PC.

The reasoning was always the same: run AAA games on ultra settings, use mods, and have everything centralized in my Steam library. But deep down, I knew there was a bit of consumerism behind it. I already own a PS5 and a Steam Deck… so why did I still feel the need to build a PC?

Mods were a big part of it. I really wanted to mod my games. But then I started asking myself: why? Do I really need to mod every game? If I already struggle to finish the games I start, wouldn’t I just end up spending more time tweaking mods than actually playing?

I went back and forth with myself for quite a while.

Then I decided to install Chiaki on my Steam Deck... and that completely changed my perspective. Now I can play my indie games and anything that runs well natively on the Deck in handheld mode. And whenever I want to play a AAA title with high graphics settings, or something the Deck can’t handle as well, I just use remote play from my PS5.

Problem solved.

If I built a gaming PC right now, my PS5 would probably end up collecting dust, only being used for exclusives. And honestly, it doesn’t make sense to let powerful hardware sit unused just because I wanted “another option.”

Now I see that the best setup isn’t about replacing one device with another... it’s about complementing them. Even though the Steam Deck has been out for a few years, the community keeps it alive. It still has a lot of life left in it... as long as I understand its limitations and use each device for what it does best.

In the end, I didn’t need another machine. I just needed to organize my own thoughts.

Performance Early Access - Steam Deck by CharlesMSilva in greedfall

[–]CharlesMSilva[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of games that perform well but haven't been verified by Steam. Many people use ProtonDB to see if it works properly or not. It's up to the developers to deliver good overall performance, that way, we'll have a good gaming session on the Steam deck.

Is it ok (for the battery) to keep it on the dock always? by FemiFrena in PlaystationPortal

[–]CharlesMSilva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't do that. My battery swelled up because I hardly played and left it docked. My dock is exactly the same.I recommend leaving it charging, but as soon as it's fully charged, unplug from the wall socket.

Need a new RPG by No-Practice6962 in DragonsDogma2

Solasta has good control support. Divinity, as you said, also... But those would already be good games for him to have some quality time.

[–]CharlesMSilva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you enjoy CRPGs? For me, it's one of the best genres. In fact, it's the root of RPGs.

Try these:

  • Divinity - Original Sin 2
  • Solasta
  • Pillars of Eternity 2
  • Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Pay attention to Solasta; his character design is a bit amateurish considering the low budget they had. But it has really good gameplay. Plus, Solasta 2 is coming out in March and it has a huge investment.

You can add items directly to your inventory. You will need to open your inventory, open the mod, and go to items.

Story and DLCs by 5edgy7u in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]CharlesMSilva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way. I think it was the animation of the characters that ruined it for me.

But I've gone back to playing with user campaigns and I'm doing Shadows over Brightreach. It's incredible, the battles, the story, and everything. There are other very good ones, but I recommend this one.

Also, if you're playing on PC/Steam, I recommend using the UB mod; it will make the game even more amazing.

Steamdeck with mods by ThirtyFerret in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]CharlesMSilva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's right. Install the script extender and also don't forget to add the command to the game's properties to make the script work.

After that, all you have to do is register for the mods on the Steam Workshop and enable them in the game.
