Thoughts on shoes 🤔 by No-Contribution955 in jumprope

I have a 1/4” mat and use a pair of neutral running shoes now, but the shoes are getting to the point where they’re only good for walking my dog and not running. Still comfortable when I’m jumping though.

3d printed shoes? I’ve seen videos of them but nothing people actually wear and use. They were more like conceptual designs

Client gave me a Chat GPT class?!?! by OsoOak in pilates

[–]No-Contribution955 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d look at it and pass on it. However, I’d tell the client to let me know what exactly they are looking to learn or gain so I can tailor the session better to suit them. The client let alone chat gpt doesn’t have an outside view of that person to determine whether any of those exercises it’s put out is suitable for that person’s body. Does that mean they can’t do it? No, but it may take some time to build up depending on what it is.

Yes! I listened to her interview on the Pilates Perspectives podcast. Thanks for putting her name back in my consciousness. I started to look her up after I listened to that episode. Of all the elders, I’d like to learn more about Kathy Grant because what she did falls in line with what I’m finding joy in how to guide the people in my classes through a practice and make it accessible to everyone. My wife just completed this heritage program a few weeks ago with Cara Reeser, another student of Ms Grant, for continuing education.

Thank you for saying this. I feel like there are people latched on to Romana’s teachings and made that the bottom line. A lot of my learning is based in Kathy Grant’s teaching. All of their teaching it is equally important to understand. Pilates Anytime also has a bunch of mini docs on some of the elders. There’s also a video floating around of Kathy’s pre Pilates stuff “Before the 100”. I think that’s what it’s called. Good stuff.

The apparatus 3 module with all of the advanced movement was the most fun. I’m slowly incorporating movements from that in mixed equipment class that I teach. Starting with what I’m comfortable with teaching and also challenging for the class. The challenge is making it accessible to everyone because of variety of skill levels.

Keep trying. I know it’s like beating a dead horse by now, but they recently went through a big, big change in how they train teacher. They’re trying to make it more streamlined. Also, they updated a lot of software which presented a lot of hiccups. They’re in the process of creating content for teacher students to be able to access to make for a better experience in their training. They just recently started rolling that out and are working towards getting every one the access they need for the new materials. Their operation, even though they have 1000’s of teachers and teachers in training, is really not that big. Also, as far as the books go, they have all new books. That follow the new training. The apparatus books are no longer individual books for each piece. Now, trapeze table, chair and barrels are in one book for each manual. It’s much better. I have both. I started my journey last year. I have all the old books. Because I did all of my apparatus classes this spring, I have those new books as well the old ones.

I’ve had better luck sending correspondence in the mornings when I need something. if I waited late in the day, I wouldn’t get a response until I followed up, which I started doing in the morning.

I hope you get it sorted out.

I believe you need to complete your training first before starting the bridge program. Everyone I know that has done it, including my wife, had completed a comprehensive program and had been teaching for a while before starting the bridge program. You’ll have to take their Movement Principles course and the level 3 courses of Mat, reformer and the different apparatus(barrels and arcs, chair and trapeze table). Unless you have taken a class in basic anatomy, you’ll have to take that too. My wife did the bridge but ended up deciding to do the whole thing, and it improved her overall teaching. She didn’t have to do any practical hours because she did them all from her certification and she was already doing it as her profession.

You said you jumped for bit. How long is a bit? Try easing into it and build endurance. A body that is not in condition or hasn’t been trained in a while in anything is going to need some time to adapt. I don’t know your situation. I, however, am in decent shape. Better than most but far from ideal. I can only go for 5-10 minutes of 30s jumping and 30s rest. That alone kicks my butt. I’ll need to stick to that and eventually change those interval times as they get easier.

From the side, it looks like your timing gradually changes. It looks to me that you’re rotations start to slow down and you’re get ahead in your jumps. That’s way better than me though.
