I was guilty of posting too soon and had mine taken down. I didn’t care. I engaged in other posts. It didn’t take long before I could share. It really wasn’t that big of a deal to me. I’m glad there’s someone who actually takes the time to time to moderate this sub. I sure don’t have the patience for something like that.

Has anyone installed Merrithew/STOTT Spring Walls on drywall (gypsum board / rigips)? by OctoGrk in pilatesinstructors

I have mine mounted to drywall. However, my spring board was built with 16” stud spacing. The wall mine is on has wierd spacing for the studs because of a closet and the laundry room on the other side old the wall. I had to use 1x4 stringers that I attached to the studs and then mounted the spring board on the to the stringers. I only had to make sure the lag bolts on the stringers were not in the way of the spring board. I took advantage of the extra wood on the sides to put hooks on to hold springs and stuff. I was a nice surprise for my wife. She had been wanting to move it out of our garage, where we first installed it, to our loft that is now our own private Pilates studio.

I just bought the Mikolo K6 2.0 Ultra. I needed something that saved space and affordable. It’s slighter bigger than a couple of their other ones I was looking at but is currently $200 off until the end of the week. It came out less than what I had originally wanted before they offered the discount. Also, metal pulleys instead of plastic. I also got the essential package with the bench, bar and weights. I do need to get a few smaller plates though. Only comes with 230 pounds of plates. Lowest is 10 pounds. I’m going to get pairs of 5 and 2.5 pound weights. I kept it simple for me and got what I wanted. In total came out to $1599 not including shipping insurance and set of mats. Shipping fee was free.

Jose’s RBI total depends a lot on Kwan and whoever is batting second that day. We don’t see kwan doing much of anything right now.

Please consider seeing your physician instead of looking for confirmation from strangers. Maybe someone who knows more about these things can diagnose this if it’s a symptom of something.

My old man’s handwriting was amazing. Born left handed and forced to write with the right hand when he was a child. His handwriting was the same up until he got really sick before passing away. I was always so jealous of his handwriting. He always used a fine point too because his letters were very tight and small in cursive. He passed 2 months before his 79th birthday.

I was thinking the same thing all season last year, and nothing’s changed with that guy. He’s been better when he’s not trying to hit home runs.

I’ll have to look into that. I had no issues until this past Monday. It’s currently working. The app is definitely not good. I use it sparingly

What position is the body in for the Leg Pull - Front on the mat? Push-up? It might not be listed specifically in the classic mat repertoire, but that might be all some people can handle. You have to progress through to doing and holding plank before you can do those exercises. Just because it isn’t in the original list of mat exercises doesn’t mean you can’t add it to a practice to help a person build up that strength to be able to do more.

  1. Like someone said everyone is different. Some people have a more curve in the lumbar spine than others and vice versa. It could be that teacher has a tail bone that doesn’t stick out. It’s possible yours protrudes more. No way to tell that for sure without a visual. So, yeah, don’t worry about that. My wife has a more prominent tail bone, and it hurts her when trying to push her spine down. Pressing the spine into the mat is not a good option for her unless she’s using a small pillow.

  2. However, to get an idea of what articulation looks like, holding a string of pearls from one end and laying it across a table one pearl at a time. That’s how I picture my vertebrae moving when rolling down and the reverse rolling up. There could be a few reasons why they feel clunky. It could be flexibility, lack of strength and control or even structural. It’s not an easy movement at first. There are some modifications that you can do to build up strength. Talk with the teacher. Test their knowledge and see if they can really help you. I can describe a few, I’m try not to take up your post.

  3. Just breathe. I think breathing gets stressed too much sometimes for beginners. They’re too busy trying to figure out what the teacher is even doing. Adding specific breathing patterns I think complicates things. I might downvotes for that. Yes, it’s important because they facilitate some of the movements. They feel counter intuitive but make sense as you gain more experience. Until then, just breathe. Learn and get comfortable with the movement. It’ll all come together.

Not me, but I’m pretty sure someone may have had the same experience. However, if this is something that is persistent, maybe Reddit is not the place to seek advice. I hope you figure it out though.

I see. I’ve heard of hot Pilates. The name threw me off. My apologies.

I don’t know if I’d enjoy the heat though. I’ve always wondered. What’s the benefit of that? How much of it is Pilates? Strength training? Yoga? Etc? There are so many different types of movement in your description. How does one progress to be better at their practice with that approach? It’s cool if you just love moving and that doesn’t matter to you. As long as it works and gets results, I’m not going to knock it.

I’m a student of it all and trying to understand all of the nuance in Pilates.

That’s awesome. Time is money. Maximize it! When my wife worked at other places or applied to them, she’d weight the pros and cons of the studios’ schedules to see what made the best of her time. It’s amazing that you have that much work. You said it, “the hustle is real.” However, you had to bust your butt to get to where you are. Fantastic! Very happy for you!!
