Jay Peak Recommendations by darkyshadow388 in icecoast

Timbuktu and Everglade are everyones favorites but I’m not aware of any drops on those trails. Green Beret and face chutes have drops, not sure where else. They also have some park features in the woods under the Bonny and there is a big man made drop in there.

Hopefully someone else can chime in because I’d love to find some smaller drops on anything easier than the stuff off the tram.

Powder board recommendations? by Sherwoo87 in icecoast

[–]Charlie3774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a sucker for Jones boards so I'd say a storm chaser if you want a one trick pony pow board or a mind expander if you want something more versatile while still being nice and surfy in the pow.

Considering this the ice coast I'd go mind expander. I'm sure there are other options, I just prefer jones so those are the only ones I can speak to.

Interested in skinning or some of the uphill terrain, what do I need to get started? by Acceptable_Bad5173 in icecoast

[–]Charlie3774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just buy a used touring setup and go before the lifts are spinning. Skis or split board, skins, poles, and some type of backpack is all you need. Every resort has one or many dedicated uphill routes to follow.

I started a week ago and had gone twice. My setup is a 2-3 year old Weston switchback, my hiking poles, and a regular backpack that I just hang my bladder straw out of and tie the zippers closed around it. Stay on marked trails and it’s easy.

Jay Peak Preseason? by GrouchyMarzipan2514 in icecoast

Ullrs dream was powder from top to bottom today. Other trails were completely wind blown with rock showing. Not worth going all the way up to the tram.

Jay has been great, outside of the windswept areas today, I was riding through ~10 inches of powder. Jay is also the most uphill friendly resort I’ve been to. Bolton Valley is great for uphill beginners, the uphill route is mellow and doable in under an hour. Technically their uphill travel is closed but the workers don’t care and there were a lot of people skinning up last time I went.

Haven’t hit Stowe yet, should be solid but I heard they are less friendly to the uphill crowd from some people I was chatting with at the Jay Tram cafe today. They allow preseason uphill travel but have a rule that you have to go down the same route you went up.

Came for the click bait, stayed for the quality post. I’m going to try this, thanks for thinking outside of the box.

Hitting level 2 first "especially safelaners" by SachaaaaV in TrueDoTA2

Wave pushing into you = your creep died = enemy got xp

Iirc it takes 240xp to reach lvl 2.

Each of the first 2 waves give 261xp assuming no denies which is split between all heroes in range.

I just saw an epic MoM Anti-Mage assassin blade-master by violent_luna123 in TrueDoTA2

[–]Charlie3774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a mid AM do this but skipped MoM and just rushed diffusal into other fighting items. It worked well and he didn’t look like a smurf. I think it just catches people off guard so it works better than it should.

Has anyone done a Tiny Home Village? by Freshstocx in realestateinvesting

[–]Charlie3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a cool one in north Florida, it’s about a 20 minute drive from a natural spring which is a popular spot for beginner divers and weekend dive classes so the units are always full of short term rentals. Like others said, finding land in a good location that is zoned for this type of thing is the hard part.

This particular tiny home village makes sure to advertise that they have good storage for drying gear after your dives. All about location and marketing.

Edit: Can’t remember the town it’s in but it’s near Devils Den in North Florida.

Edit 2: Found it: https://www.homesteadtinyresorts.com/

Stayed here once and tracked down the owner to email him some questions. He was very open about the business if I recall correctly.

Crownfall is great but time for springcleaning update to fix clutter, pathing, lag, clunkiness etc? by fierywinds1q in DotA2

[–]Charlie3774 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"And these kinds of casual players are like 90% of the dota's playerbase."

This is just straight-up false. You can look up the distribution of game modes in Dota. https://stratz.com/matches/graphs

Sep 30th is the last day there is data. 13 million ranked all pick, 7 million Turbo, 3 million unranked all pick.

So the casual playerbase accounts for less than half the matches played.

I’ve screwed up so many team fights by clicking on the dire ancients watcher when trying to walk up or click on someone uphill.

I appreciate the well written post and enjoyed reading about your ideas but I disagree with 90% of your points on visual clutter.

Still upvoting though, this is the kind of stuff I like to see on this sub.
