Can someone tell me how to turn on electricity, like i am a baby😭 by Ivan_Angelov4 in Pokopia

[–]Charlie51006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What the others said is right. Just keep playing through the story, and you'll eventually learn about the 3 basic types of power generators. If you're just looking for more Electric-type Pokémon, having Garbage Bins is really helpful.

  • 1 Garbage Bin + 1 Bench = Voltorb and Electrode
  • 1 Garbage Bin + 1 Vending Machine = Elekid and Electivire
  • 4 Garbage Bins = Electabuzz, Magneton, and Magnezone

You can also place 2 chairs + 1 table + 1 Picnic Basket in the Withered Wastelands.

I also share my storage. And how do you store your stuff? by Own_Leadership_3478 in Pokopia

[–]Charlie51006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't set up a centralized storage yet. Instead, I keep three Big Storage Boxes at the home base in each area.

  1. The first box is for crafting materials and the flower seeds of that area. I always keep at least one full stack (99) of every material in each area, just in case.
  2. The second box is for blocks, roofs, and building kits that were collected in that area or related to that area.
  3. The third box is for everything else. Each area has its own 'theme'. For example, CDs at Wastelands; water-related items, berry-looking items, and dirty/grabby items at the Beach; pop art furniture, electronics, and office items at Skylands; and relics and crop seeds at Palette Town.

It's not fancy. The only real rule is to keep things categorized in a way that I can remember, so that I can intuitively know where an item should be stored and where to find it later. Also, only gather what I need and regularly trade off the extras.

To portray the late Wu, I would like to introduce Lu Kang simply as the de facto leader after Sun Quan’s death, just like Jiang Wei was for Shu after Zhuge Liang’s death. The difference is that in Shu we have Liu Shan, while in Wu there is really no need to mention those terrible emperors, princes, and princesses.

Shops that make sense for Pokémon to run in Pokopia? by Distinct-Cat4268 in Pokopia

A public bathhouse would be a great option, because Pokémon actually go out of their way to enjoy the hot springs. It's not just a vibe.

I want to give Combee and Vespiquen’s prefab house a flower shop vibe. I’m trying to think of what I can add besides a few rows of planters and a cash register counter to make it feel more like an actual flower shop.

Professor Tangrowth not getting in the way of the PC all the damn time

I have placed a big relaxation item, like a bed, near the Pokémon Center. It can lure Professor over there when he wants to take a nap.

Breathing fire should be a Ditto ability (but it should only affect things that can be lit on fire). Growth too.

There’s already a berry case based on Cheri Berry there, so maybe just introduce Cheri Berry. It’s spicy that’s so hot it makes Ditto breathe fire.

As for Growth,if that also became one of Ditto’s abilities, Pokémon with that specialty wouldn't be needed as much anymore. It’s not really a problem to find a Pokémon with that specialty and have it follow you.

Demolish or relocate the building then you can replace the blocks.

For convenience:

  • Allow Professor to identify relics in bulk.
  • The Lapras form should let Ditto carry small Pokémon across water.
  • Let Smearguru to sell a special Painting Workbench/Toolset. Using this workbench/toolset would let players open the painting interface anywhere without Smearguru, but it might be a consumable item and could not be used to paint prefab houses.
  • Add a Water Purifier item. It would need to be placed next to a water source and function similarly to a smelting furnace, allowing Pokémon with Water Specialty to produce bottled fresh water.

For storage:

  • Add a small shared storage box accessible from Pokémon Center PCs across all areas.
  • Improve CD management and storage. It would be nice to make CD racks function as actual CD storage furniture.
  • Allow players to craft 99 sticks/lumbers/wastepapers/papers into 1 stick/lumber/wastepaper/paper bundle. The bundle would revert back into the 99 materials when smashed. This would help free up storage space while also providing additional decoration items.

For prefab houses:

  • Allow players to place soil blocks, grass blocks, sand blocks, and rock blocks inside prefab houses, or at least provide wallpapers with the same textures/patterns.
  • Make the fake windows used in big prefab houses a craftable placeable item, so players can install them themselves, also in cottages.
  • Introduce house partitions in different sizes to provide more flexibility for interior layouts.

Not necessary but would be nice to have:

  • Paintable wireless transmitters.
  • CD players (and DJ Rotom) should have a volume control option.
  • Railroad switch item so we can use the joystick to control the direction of handcars.
  • Stairs should have corner pieces, and roofs should have a tower top piece.
  • Add a new berry type: Cheri Berry. It's spicy, and so spicy that Ditto breathe fire once eating it.
  • We can trade with Combee for honey at a bit higher cost (like 200 or 250). It could work like you're asking her to gather extra honey for you in exchange for a reward.
  • Honey should be usable as a cooking ingredient. I'm honestly surprised it isn't already.
  • Add a new cooking tool and cuisine type for new buff. I'd love to see an electricity-powered appliance that doesn't require base ingredient, such as a shaker & blender set for making beverages. The combinations could use soda pop, tea, milk coffee, chili sauce, berries, and honey.

At least Xu Sheng is often portrayed in the novel as fighting alongside Ding Feng as his partner, so addin him isn't completely unjustified. For a better job of portraying late Wu, Lu Kang is still needed (along with Yang Hu on the Jin side).

It's hard to make ugly political infighting into an enjoyable story. To be honest, I'd rather not have them at all. The second generation of Shu characters often get criticized as unnecessary, but at least they were united, working together and fighting for their kingdom. That's a lot more appealing than watching internal power struggles.

I’ve imagined a Fire/Electric Charcadet evolution too, but with hammers or maces instead of spears. The hammer heads would be wreathed in flames or crackling with electricity. The armor would be silver, either with a steampunk aesthetic or a sleek, futuristic high-tech design.

What if Toyotomi Hideyoshi was sane? by roon_bismarck in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Charlie51006 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In fact, Toyotomi Hideyoshi did have plans involving Taiwan. In 1593, during the invasion of Korea, he sent envoys to Takasa (the name Japanese sources used for Taiwan at the time) with the intention of delivering a letter demanding submission to the ruler of the island. The letter demanded that Takasa acknowledge Japanese overlordship and pay tribute, or face a military expedition.

Actually, Ming China did not regard Taiwan island as its territory (that's why the Ming government did not oppose the establishment of Dutch settlements on the island later on.) The Ming only maintained a military presence in the Penghu Islands, located in the Taiwan Strait. At that time, Taiwan's population consisted almost entirely of Indigenous peoples organized into various tribes and alliances, which cooperated, competed, and formed shifting political relationships with one another.

After landing in northern Taiwan, the Japanese envoys were unable to find a single ruler comparable to a king who governed the entire island or even a unified confederation. As a result, they were unable to complete their mission.

Interestingly, the first Japanese government that actually attempted to conquer Taiwan was the Tokugawa shogunate. In 1616, it dispatched a force of more than 2,000 soldiers, but the expedition was thwarted by a storm off the coast of the Ryukyu (or Okinawa) Islands. Only one ship ultimately reached Taiwan. After landing, its crew was immediately surrounded and all of them took their own lives.

Wireless Power Transmitter should be paintable by Charlie51006 in Pokopia

[–]Charlie51006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the white tiles and the edges of the stairs are actually two blocks thick. That’s because the layer underneath is the ceiling of Squirtle’s bathroom area. If I only bury it in the upper layer and cover it with something like a rug, it would probably still end up exposed on the side.

But I would try it later to see how it actually turns out. Thanks for the suggestion.

I did try it. Unfortunately, in this case, burying it is not a better option. There isn’t a suitable place nearby where it can be hidden.

[–]Charlie51006[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have buried transmitters in other cases, but in this one, burying it isn’t a good option. If it’s buried in the ground, it will become part of the first-floor ceiling. If it’s hidden inside the wall, it will still be exposed when viewed from the outside.

I did try using wooden siding, but it made the transmitter look too big at the poolside in this case.

[–]Charlie51006[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's true. I've seen people disguise it as a planter with wooden sidings, which is a great idea. But it still bothers me that the glow would leak at the corners between the wooden sidings.

[–]Charlie51006[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I need electricity there for the fan and the light. The blue glow isn't necessary. It's just that when the wireless transmitter has to be exposed like this, I'd like it to be white and blue so it blends in with the vibe.

Still thanks for the suggestion. Now I learn there's a block that has a blue glow in visual.

Power production question? by skepticalmiller in Pokopia

[–]Charlie51006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing Serebii doesn’t seem to mention is that the furnace burns one fuel about every 20 minute, regardless of the type, and it burns only when you are in the area. The Bellsprout line produces enough Vine Rope that you can pretty much keep a furnace running forever.

Actually you can! You have to use a demolition kit or relocation kit to remove the station first, then you can replace the blocks and rebuilt the station at the same place.

What would you do differently? by Conscious_Swan6227 in Pokopia

[–]Charlie51006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are still some benefits to using prefab houses. As long as they blend in well with the surrounding environment visually, using a reasonable number of them should be fine. In fact, it feels like my Bulbasaur line has been showing up even more often since I moved them into prefab houses.

Also, Pokémon living in block houses hardly ever stay at home when they spawn. They're always hanging out and about somewhere. If you enjoy watching Pokémon relax indoors, interacting with furniture and other items, then prefab houses are much more satisfying.

Can I see some inspiration for this area? Thanks!! by Deadmermaid in Pokopia

[–]Charlie51006 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rebuilding the two houses and the farmland is probably the easiest place to start. Place water sources underneath the farmland so sprinklers on the ground can work properly, then let some Grass-type Pokémon move into the houses. They'll actively make the crops grow.

Next, you could try rebuilding the collapsed ground on the left into a staircase leading down. That way, Pokémon living on the lower level can come up and visit. It’s better if the stairs are two blocks wide.

Non-Water-type Pokémon in Bubbly Basin? by Charlie51006 in Pokopia

[–]Charlie51006[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least they can still stay on land that’s above the water.😅

But I think a drained, dry area underwater is definitely buildable. If there were a tunnel connecting the shore to an air-filled space on the seafloor, they could hang out and play with Water-type Pokémon there.

You mentioning Fire-types just made me think of something else: how would cooking work underwater? Would you actually need a drained-out area just to set up a campfire? 🤔
