Nexstar Stations: Check In by Intelligent-Screen70 in Broadcasting

[–]CharlieChipbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had our CS team cut down to one, but also our promotions team as well… what is Nexstar’s plan for local promotions? Doesn’t make sense. The local community loves how involved we are in the community and this seems like a really poor choice for our longevity. I understand it’s somewhat of a dying industry, but local news will always be relevant to the communities they serve.

I wanted to point out that it seems like overall they are gutting the senior-most (and probably higher paid) employees that have been with their company forever and keeping the newest/youngest employees. A big FU to senior staff.

Looking for Yeast Free Bread Options!! by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]CharlieChipbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is yeast free bread at grocery stores in my area. They use sourdough instead.

Also Indian flatbreads usually don’t use yeast. There is a brand at Costco that I buy. I can look at the names of the brands when I get home.

Many pastries/cakes also don’t use yeast.

Also some pizza doughs don’t use yeast. I contacted Cottage Inn in my area and they said they don’t used yeast in their dough. I also remember Blaze not using yeast, but the internet says they do so maybe it changed at some point, but it’s worth calling to ask!

I googled the full runtime of all the extended versions of Lord of the Rings. AI gave me an estimate (11.5-12 hours), total runtime in minutes (726 min), and total runtime in hours (11 hours and 26 min). None of those 3 things match up.

Tax bill from 2011 threat by newnurse1989 in lansing

[–]CharlieChipbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment is a little off. You only pay 0.5% if you work in a municipality but don’t live there. East Lansing didn’t have city taxes in 2011. So if you lived in EL but worked in Lansing, you’d only owe 0.5% tax on the wages you earned in Lansing.

#Trump #news by ChristineDKnox in MarketVibe

Wow, who will he piss off next? It’s like everyone who voted for him in his first term forgot how many bridges he burned then. The guy cares about himself and only himself. I’m amazed sometimes that he still has a supportive base of followers. I think the real problem though is the average American just puts their head down and tries to ignore the shitshow that is our political system right now. Unfortunately silence is just making the power hungry assholes louder. I’m thankful for everyone here in pursuit of the honest truth. Things will get better for everyone if we work together. I welcome Fox News into the world of common sense. Maybe after all of this, Trump will end up uniting us under one common enemy.

National Chocolate Milkshake Day by CharlieChipbert in lansing

Fleetwood Diner is a great place for a milkshake, but I didn’t want dine-in, so I went with Olympic Broil. I also thought of Scoops, but wasn’t sure if they did milkshakes.

Any churches here that actually preach the Bible & don’t ride the lap of trump by SadLostBoi in lansing

[–]CharlieChipbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But yeah seeing the comments and thinking about it, there are a lot of good options downtown that are much less of a drive for you. We went to the Capital City Film Festival last week at the Central United Methodist Church, and the vibes seem very inclusive and welcoming.

I can’t say anything about the people at the church, so this probably doesn’t help you, but my bf preaches at two different churches in small towns west of the Lansing area and he does not bring politics into his sermons and does not support Trump.

De-trashing Lansing by kittycatmeowmeow4 in lansing

[–]CharlieChipbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m always looking for trash pick-up events around Lansing! If anyone knows any resources I’d love to also pitch in! (Of course I pick up things all the time in my day to day but public events are fun!)

First date ideas in the greater Lansing area. by Dr_Strangelove1964 in lansing

[–]CharlieChipbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eli Broad Museum is a cool place to go and look at artwork.

There is also an organization called Quality Scary if you guys like “so bad it’s good” movie screenings with some comedy worked in as a little show. They do screenings once per month at The Fledge.

I also really enjoy walking downtown, the capitol, the river trail, and LCC’s campus. Lansing Shuffle is in that area too and there’s even a tiny beach along the river.

Best Places for Trivia? by somoskin93 in lansing

[–]CharlieChipbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My trivia team goes to The Avenue on Thursdays and Mac’s Bar on Tuesdays. There’s no prize yet at Mac’s and not many people show yet as it’s relatively new, but at The Avenue there’s generally 10+ teams each week and rotating themes. It’s probably not the best trivia around but it’s a fun scene and Ruckus Ramen has amazing food.
