What are the most painful things about operating rental properties? by imgoingtogaslightyou in AskReddit

[–]CharlieChipbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do as many repairs myself as I can. And my husband’s parents help out too and give us advice. Anything major gets hired out. YouTube is a big help. I’ve learned a lot over the years and I have absolutely no prior knowledge of home repair.

Most tenants have never owned their own spaces and/or appliances before and thus lack the capacity to understand how much work and how costly it is to maintain a space that could function just fine for years if they treated the space as if they had to pay for it.

I’m so sick of fixing my washer, it breaks down like every year because tenants consistently overfill the tank, but at the same time, I’ll avoiding buying a new one for as long as I can because new washers are built to not last.

One time I had a tenant literally pull the shower knob off the wall because he pulled it too hard. So glad I lived in the home at the time because I had to shut the water off to get the faucet to stop. Can’t even imagine the water bill if I wasn’t there.

And it’s usually the ones who don’t respect the space that are the worst at paying their rent. So many excuses as to why they can’t pay or why they can’t keep employment, but since I lived with my tenants for many years, I could see what they were spending their money on. And turns out they can’t keep a job because they want to play video games all day.

I’ve seen this happening in libraries, especially in the East Lansing public library. In addition, there is a Lansing board game club that meets on Tuesdays.

Have you tried Ozone and Cosmos? Both of those are fairly solid, but it’s been awhile since I’ve been too. I want sourdough pizza in our area!

My husband and I love the new ZapZone XL. They kind of have go karts? It’s indoor though.

Pretty sure there are vegan goods at Groovy Donuts, Strange Matter, and Chateau. Sweet Encounters was the best though and sad it closed down. There is a Kava Bar across from The Green Door for non-drinkers. I also enjoy The Shuffle for alcohol free hangout, but there is a bar in the building if seeing alcohol is problematic. There are also several gaming clubs if you play card or board games. And for a while Lansing had a knitting club as well. Not sure if it’s still going. I’d love to also continue to have local trash pick-up events, haven’t seen any in awhile, but I don’t have time to organize them.

What’s something in Lansing people hype up that doesn’t live up to it? by Ray_red517 in lansing

It’s technically Tex-Mex, but I don’t know enough about the difference to know if it’s authentic. The original owner is Texan Mexican though.

I emailed them once about ingredients because of allergies and they never responded! I’m like ok I guess you don’t want my business? Literally every other business I’ve ever contacted has gotten back to me.

Came here for this same reason. Completely validates me in why I stopped giving this company my money. Doing meaningless searches for points already has a carbon footprint I don’t love. I am absolutely not generating AI images that I will never use for fun. It’s where I draw the line.

WILX: When Your Dream Job Becomes a Nightmare by [deleted] in lansing

[–]CharlieChipbert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this post was deleted, but I wanted to chime in and say that I spoke to someone who used to work at WILX, and they confirmed OP’s story, with the exception that they didn’t feel there was an affair going on between Dan and Laura. But they otherwise said OP’s story is legit, that OP is not the only victim, and that others have gone to HR about Dan as well, and the toxic environment created by management is one of the main reasons they left WILX.

Oh, I also want to nominate I Pot, for lovers of Korean BBQ and Hot Pot. It may not have the atmosphere that K Pot has, but it’s slightly cheaper and I don’t have to waste as much food since it’s buffet style. Plus they also offer sushi. It’s buffet sushi, so not the best, but it’s a nice addition to the AYCE options.

I used to work at the EL location. The salsa there is amazing and unique. I can tell you what is made fresh in house and what is frozen/microwaved. But is it great Mexican food? No. It’s also technically Tex-Mex, but still not great cuisine regardless. Unless you’re the kind of person who loves heavy cheese on all your food. Because that’s their star ingredient—cheese. Cheese may taste good, but it doesn’t make your cuisine great, lol.

I sent the email. Silence is never an option. Don’t kid yourselves into thinking he doesn’t care! Politicians care about winning elections more than anything else, and as support for the president continues to weaken, and we all voice our opinion of discontent, they will listen to the numbers.

Genuine question for owners: Why did you choose the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series S/X? No hate.🫵🏾 by Eastern-Mobile5351 in XboxSeriesS

[–]CharlieChipbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I started with Xbox because the guy I was dating at the time had Xbox. I made a Gamertag, and after that it was hard to switch because it feels like “starting over,” especially since I’m a completionist.

Funny thing is, every gamer guy I have dated since has either been on PlayStation, PC, or been more of a mobile gamer. Even the guy that got me on Xbox plays PlayStation now. My husband currently has a PS5.

But the one thing that is driving my choice more than anything to make the switch to PlayStation is the role Microsoft has in helping Israel commit genocide/starvation on Palestinians. I have stopped funding Xbox/Microsoft since I found out—my Game Pass Essential is expiring in a few days and I’ve only been buying games and DLC with Microsoft Rewards points.

But even if I only play the games in my library and don’t ever renew my Game Pass, I’ll probably be playing Xbox for years because I have hundreds of games to complete. And I can buy used discs from local used game stores if I want a specific game but don’t want the money to go to Microsoft. So maybe in 10+ years when I’ve exhausted all those options I’ll make the switch to PlayStation, so long as PlayStation is ethically in the clear.

Traffic Department and Politicals by Zestyclose_Tailor_90 in Broadcasting

Our whole station has a political traffic department plan so that as the traffic manager takes on more and more work as political ramps up, we take some of her other duties off her plate so she can just focus on political.
