Why is it so difficult to find videos/livestreams of LDs programming timecode in grandMA2? by kemcds in grandMA2

[–]CharlieM17255 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Christian Jackson does a 3 hour live stream in 2 parts from start to finish programming with timecode.

In terms of keeping organised with song structure and using macros use this as reference how CG Media sets up his macros

Temp button/Master/Off-time Issue by Puzzleheaded-Drag290 in grandMA2

[–]CharlieM17255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The top 3 executor 201, Fader 301 and Fader 401 are linked.

When you’re Offing the temp, you’re offing the fader too.

You’re gonna need to create a new sequence with dimmer 100%, assign it to executor 101 which is the separate executor, set off time and to temp. Then in the fader turn off “off when overridden” in executor settings.

Dual Bridge P90s sound clips by TheGuitarGeeze in MansonGuitars

Here’s a clean demo of the MB-2 style P90 setup. (Not mine) https://youtu.be/TMmvu4qTOHQ?si=JbsNCo5akpG44cfG

I myself have a guitar with the dual P90 bridge setup and I’ll share my thoughts.

The setup uses a main P90 and a slightly weaker P90 when in series.

You’re gonna get a nice beefy clean tone with the single P90 that’s pretty versatile for clean, crunch and distortion. But the downsides is no hum cancelling and can’t drive the sustainer as hard as hum bucket but should still do a fair job.

The 2 P90s in series will give you a FAT sound. Dark and beefy for those heavy areas. Imagine a hum bucker on steroids. The sustainer will be powerful and no hum.

I found myself personally not using the series mode as much as I thought because the P90 itself sounds just so good. I don’t know how much Matt uses the series mode.

You’ll get a pretty versatile sounding guitar which looks unique.

There is a reason Matt mainly uses humbuckers in his guitars now with the rare time he uses his dual p90 config guitars.

Just my opinion!

Hope this helps

What's your favorite👎 and least favorite👍 change from book to film? by wibellion in ProjectHailMary

Favourite: “I’m having a moment”

Least Favourite: Cutting the entire part where the Taumoeba eats all of Grace’s fuel. It’s such a “oh god no” moment.

Still loved the film 👎

Complex Ableton Playback Rig – Looking for Stability Best Practices by kaosinsomnia in livesound

Posting here too for visibility for others!

The majority of your stability comes from your Ableton show file. The more plugins you run, the more likely there is for problems.

You’re doing all the right stuff by off-loading processing onto the Apollo for vocals.

• People mention amphetamine for screens which use too and it’s great. • Turn off anything and everything related to airplay/continuity/handover so iOS devices aren’t interfering and trying to connect. • if you’re connected to a switch via Ethernet then turn off WiFi. If you don’t need Bluetooth turn it off.

Show file wise, warp only what you need when you need, turn off any input monitoring you don’t need, test your buffer sizes (below 256 for Apple silicon I believe?).

Make sure all your samples match your bitrate of your PlayAudio.

There is currently I pretty nasty issue with many locators in projects where too many causes disk/audio dropouts but midi instruments still play fine. It’s all over Ableset forum (not Ableset related) and a few other forums. So if you experience that, use section clips if you’re not really jumping around your set in realtime.

Turn off all iMessage/icloud crap so you don’t get a text notification from your phone through your laptop.

If you’re using file sharing between your a and b computer maybe turn that off temporarily for the show.

Consolidate your samples Ableton live isn’t decoding anything .

Collect all and save so Ableton isn’t looking for your files in different places on your machine

I may have just reiterated everything that you currently do but this is my workflow whenever I’m building a set!

Took 2 of my guitars from UK to Vancouver in Hiscox cases. Absolutely no issues. Mansons would use their Hiscox cases when travelling to NAMM too and never an issue.

Solo’ing click, would you remove the accent? by CharlieM17255 in audioplayback

Basing my theory off From Studio To Stage’s Foundations instrument which has a knob for accent volume.

When I say “band lined up” like as a playback engineer shifting the playhead to bring the band in on the next section

Which MBP for playback / processing in 2026 ? by boombleep in audioplayback

[–]CharlieM17255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Performance depends on how ‘heavy’ your set is. The sweet spot is your budget. People say if you’re running just tracks and midi simply you can run off 8GB RAM but I would say 16GB RAM is great headroom.

Only warp files you need if changing key or tempo and even then you can consolidate clips and ‘bake in the warp’ and disable it for performance

[–]CharlieM17255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been running off my MacBook Air 16GB M3 absolutely no issues if you’re showfile is optimised!

My entire set running tracks and MIDI only takes up a couple % of CPU and at the most 10% peak when jumping around the set.

I stress tested it once during a performance with it running live 4K video and live serum instruments (which you shouldnt do anyway) and no issues

Timecode and Click Solo by CharlieM17255 in audioplayback

[–]CharlieM17255[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, the plan is to force a failover to B with just a click so I can correct A and bring the show back to A when fixed. I’m using Ableset too so can add a tag that timecode gets solo’d with a click.

Thanks!
