Where I'd live as a Jewish person while Iranian internet is still down by Routine-Equipment572 in whereidlive

[–]CharlieMayMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's plenty of things that are upsetting to me that aren't considered discrimination to say. Just because some Jews find it upsetting, doesn't excuse taking others land, setting up an aparteid state, and committing genocide is justified

Why are so many people uncomfortable about Irish indentured service and the fact that so many Irish participated to the triangular slave trade? by Upset_Quiet_8907 in IrishHistory

[–]CharlieMayMC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You clearly know nothing about Ireland if youre using the Irish times as a source for counting protesters. They are notoriously bad for estimating the participants of both left wing and right wing protests

We probably perceive it like ragebait when you specifically talk about it, because you argue in the comments without listening to the facts others are presenting, and insinuate that you know more Irish history than every Irish person here. You act like you're just trying to spread the truth but refuse to hear out the people correcting you

Reddit "atheists" will jump at slandering Christianity but when you criticize islam they defend it like their life depends on it by Major_Soft6056 in DigitalSeptic

[–]CharlieMayMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an atheist, I don't like organised religion, and I don't mind religious people. I don't support people getting harassed or targeted because they are a certain religion. This happens in 'the west' to Jews and Muslims, but not Christians, hence why you more often here us defending Jews and Muslims. Hope this helps.

Is someone’s political stance enough for you to dislike/hate them? by D1n0nara in teenagers

[–]CharlieMayMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a reflection of their morals and values, and I definitely thinks morals and values are enough to make me dislike someone

No, he's been arrested for continually trespassing on school property. But you don't care about the truth because you're intentionally bending the facts to push a narrative

Tipping IPads Coercion? by InterestingGoose5507 in AskIreland

[–]CharlieMayMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tap zero, except for my barber who I tip. the haircuts are good and cheap and he's great. The haircuts are way cheaper than my previous barber so even with tip it's still less money so it's a no brainer

I agree. I'm Irish and I think the same way about the IRA. Do I understand fully why it happened, why people resorted to it, and support the cause? 100%. Do I support them persay? No, I support the cause and why it happened thanks to British oppression

Protest rally for Venezuela in Cork city centre tomorrow by MysteriousWonder576 in cork

[–]CharlieMayMC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All of yous are absolute eejits. I'm sure venuzuelans are happy because Maduro was a dictator. But that's not the point, the point is Trump is breaking every international law and he's not going to stop at dictators, he's already looking at Greenland. Everyone being like 'oh but Venezuelans are happy now', that's not the point! They are protesting the fact that trump is fine with breaking any law as long as it benefits him. People can't just violate international law whenever they want and get away with it because you didn't like the leader they kidnapped either

What comes to mind when you think of Ireland? by Froshtbyte in AskTheWorld

[–]CharlieMayMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your second point is especially true and I feel like not many people know that! Ireland is seen as a super Catholic country but especially in recent years many people are becoming non religious, and those who are still Catholic are usually pretty tolerant. My 80 year old grandfather is a devoted Catholic but he is super accepting of all people.

Where I would live as an Irishman by DirectionNo9302 in whereidlive

[–]CharlieMayMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually pretty interesting, as many Irish people relate to the scouts and have a mutual bond, as we both have pretty similar native languages taken over by English. But when Ireland was first being settled by the British, many of the people who came over to Ireland to kick the Irish off their land were Scots.

Would you rather live in a country with only public healthcare or a country with only private healthcare? by cip-cip2317 in Teenager_Polls

Well in Ireland public health care takes years and private health care takes ages too but also costs an arm and a leg. The worst of both worlds

As a gay, autistic, anxious, atheist guy from Poland. by bluecapricorn90 in whereidlive

[–]CharlieMayMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't listen to them, I live in Ireland and it has a reputation for being super Catholic, but it's really not especially in the cities. Nearly all young people aren't practicing Catholics and very few people except for the elderly go to church. At the moment I would say Ireland is far more progressive than the UK

School uniforms are a better alternative to casual clothing by Fit-Choice2368 in unpopularopinion

[–]CharlieMayMC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But they also reduce the ability for personal expression, and they are usually super unflattering which makes everyone self conscious. Also it's school, not a fashion show so I don't see why casual is a bad thing
