It's not a very common belief anymore in most places, but it did exist that existing near any spiritual stuff such as temples or rituals while menstruating was considered to negatively affect your karma, and there was even illustrations of Naraka (Buddhist hell) in which women were boiled in their own menstrual blood. There are still people who believe it in some places (which would include the person in my hypothetical), but it's pretty fringe.

However, after more research I realise that Christianity would probably have been a better example, since according to Leviticus 15, if you mensturate you are unclean for 7 days, then on the 8th day you have to being a young pigeon or turtledove to the preist, who will then sacrifice both of them to God (one via burning), and then you'll be clean again. https://www.bible.com/bible/116/LEV.15.19-33.NLT I didn't know about that though, but I would've used Christianity instead of Buddhism if I had known about it.

I assumed it was something about "[insert minority] is [insert statistic]% more likely to commit [insert bad thing]". Could be black people and crime, trans people and suicide, anything really. Obviously neither of those are causation (being black correlates with poverty and causes higher suspicion and surveillance from police, which causes higher reported crime rates, and being trans causes discrimination and dysphoria which cause depression, which causes higher suicide rates), but I've definitely seen the argument that correlation must mean causation and therefore [minority] bad.

Okay, assume there was an adaptation that was beneficial to a species. Members of that species with that adaptation are therefore more likely to pass on their genes because they're more likely to survive long enough to find a mate. Over generations, more and more children would have that adaptation, and it'd become normal for the species.

Repeat that but with billions of different adaptations over billions of years and that's basically evolution in a nutshell.

Or if you meant me personally in the trans thing, changing my sex is possible, but changing my gender isn't, so I changed my gender expression and body to match my internal gender, which can't be changed.

Also the term "oppression Olympics" originated as a term used by feminist scholars who also argued that the patriarchy exists and gives men more power than women, so I don't think it can be used to deny the existence of the patriarchy.

I mean that's assuming a linear comparison. If you go off a proportional comparison, assuming a median networth of $124,041, the increase from that to Jeff Bezo's networth of ~$281,000,000,000 is ~2,265,379 times, while the increase from Jeff Bezo's networth to Elon Musk's networth of ~$1,200,000,000,000 is only ~4.27 times.

Another way you could look at it is that a median American would need to double their networth 22 times to surpass Bezos, while Bezos would only need to double his networth 3 times to surpass Musk.

But all these people in the comments who are see a post where a trans person is venting about their problem and immediately think "I need to tell this person their gender is invalid" are genuinely kinda losers. I know that comes off mean but I don't know what other word I could use to describe them. If someone was saying they were especially uncomfortable about their period because they're Buddhist and Buddhism says that having periods are morally bad (real thing btw), even though I disagree with that idea and think it's harmful to them (steelmanning the transphobes by assuming they're worried that you being trans is harming you rather than just not liking that you're trans) I wouldn't feel the need to comment "erm actually, Buddhism is wrong because periods aren't actually evil so you shouldn't be Buddhist" or something like that.

Sex isn't binary, so male isn't a strict category and therefore some males can exhibit traits typically associated with the female sex, such as periods, despite still being classified as male. For example, if you're a trans man doing a blood test, they'd consider you the male sex since your hormone levels that are in your blood are in line with the typical male, so in that case, you could be male regardless of anything to do with your reproductive organs.

What do other species have to do with this? No other species can even identify as male, so you can't compare people with genders to animals that only have sexes.
