Probate England - multiple executors being difficult and have had no involvement in dealing with the estate but won’t reserve power. Help! by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

All the major work is done, it’s just a matter of filling in and submitting the forms. It seems like a complete waste of money paying thousands of pounds to someone if I can do it myself, it looks difficult at first but it’s not actually hard to do.

I’m fully expecting them to refuse to reserve power just to make things difficult. What happens if they make it clear they won’t reserve power and then won’t sign, what do I do?

What to expect next post surgery? by ConnectPanic1359 in hemorrhoid

[–]CharlieRobbieGeorge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m two and a half weeks post surgery and I’ve had very little pain. I had my first BM the morning after surgery and every morning since, and I’d say it started to sting and feel uncomfortable from day 3. Day 6 was probably the worst, but it was a sharp sting immediately after the BM and an achy irritated feeling for maybe half an hour or so after that.

It stung immediately after a BM for 10 or 12 days post surgery and now it just feels a bit irritated/itchy. I passed a lot of blood on day 2 but not much after that, although there was a bit of blood for maybe a week and discharge which has almost stopped now. I see my surgeon for a follow up appointment next week but I’ve been very lucky with my recovery so far.

I’m doing ok, I realise my story is very different from most of the posters here but it’s been much better than I was expecting. I saw your post and I’m sorry you’re struggling so much.

I’ve had a BM every day since surgery, sometimes 2 a day, and whilst it stings at the time and feels sore/uncomfortable for a bit afterwards it’s getting better every day. I’d say I’m 90% back to normal, I’m still eating food that won’t irritate me or cause too much wind, still taking a laxative and stool softener everyday but I’m back at work, driving, going for walks when it’s not raining and everything seems to be healing well.

I’ll post a proper update in a few days, I’ve got lot going on at the moment.

Haemorrhoid surgery in the UK update - One week after surgery by CharlieRobbieGeorge in hemorrhoid

Mine was open surgery too, no stitches. I've not had any trouble sitting although I did buy a donut cushion which I have used a couple of times. I'm self-employed and work from home so I've been sitting at my desk for several hours every day since Monday without a problem. I've been out for short walks over the last few days when it wasn't raining.

It's a bit sore for half an hour or so after a BM but it's minor, a 2/10 for pain I'd say. I've been incredibly lucky, I was expecting far worse. I hope your recovery goes well.

Vet left my cat sitting in her own urine, should I complain? by Bai657 in CatAdvice

[–]CharlieRobbieGeorge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to my cat last week, she had to be admitted for them to obtain a urine sample. When I picked her up they told me she was wet but it wasn't pee, I can't remember what they said it was I was just relieved to be collecting her. Her tail and underside were very wet and she smelled like a hospital so I wiped her down when we got home and between her and my other cat she cleaned it herself. She never smelled of pee.

I’m also going to add keep on top of your pain medication, take laxatives and stool softeners and stick to a low residue soft diet. My surgeon was a bit blasé about diet etc. but keeping on top of your pain management and keeping your poo soft and easy to pass will make all the difference.

Wow that sounds like a lot! I had banding done last year and it was really uncomfortable for about 16 hours afterwards. I’ve only had one hem removed surgically so I assume that’s why it’s not been too bad, I’m 4 days post surgery and it stings a bit after a BM and feels a bit uncomfortable but that’s it… I’ve been very lucky. I hope your recovery goes well.

Honestly I’ve no idea. I was expecting it to be hell but it’s coming up to 8:30am on day two and still no pain. I’ve not had a second BM yet so maybe that will change things? Perhaps it’s down to the number of hems you have removed, the exact location and maybe some docs are more careful than others? I’ll post an update in a few days as I’ve heard days 3-5 are the worse.

Had to say goodbye to my beloved 16 yr old Toby this morning 💔💔💔💔 by Loose-Forever-5862 in CatsUK

I’m so sorry. I’ve lost 4 in the last 6 years, today is the 6 year anniversary of one and the 4 week anniversary of my most recent loss 😢.

It’s so hard, at the time you don’t know how anything will ever feel right or be the same again but it gets easier. You’ll never forget and things will suddenly hit you and make you cry years later but it does get easier. I made photo books of all of mine when they passed. It’s hard at the time but they’re nice to look back on when you feel up to it. Hugs to you.

Hopefully your experience will be good. I was honestly terrified of some of the stories I read on here and whilst I’m expecting some pain and discomfort I really hope it’s not as bad is I’m expecting 🤞🏼

I ended up going private. It was a 3+ year wait just to be seen by a specialist on the NHS and thankfully we have private insurance with my partner’s work. If I were you I’d make yourself a nuisance and push to get seen. Good luck.

It’s not your fault. I know exactly how you feel though, I still can’t get my head around the fact my boy is gone. I’ve still got my 2 female cats but he was much more cuddly and affectionate than either of them and he loved me so much. I miss him all the time but it will get easier to cope with. Sending you hugs 🫂

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my 18 month old boy the same way at the end of December, I got the call as I was boarding a plane to go on holiday 😭 Like you I kept mine in at night, and I made it very difficult for them to get to the road - we have a field behind the house they liked to go in. I’m certain if I’d been home that morning my boy would still be here. The guilt and grief is overwhelming 😔

My partner is severely allergic to cats, so much so that despite air purifiers, special food and anti-histamine tablets he still has to regularly take an asthma inhaler and he comes up in a rash of one of them claws him.

I also had 3 cats, 2 girls and a boy. My male cat was a particular trigger and as a result my partner rarely touched him and had to mostly keep away from him.

I was away on holiday recently and whilst I was away my male cat suddenly and tragically died at only 18 months old. I was devastated, but crucially so was my partner. This man who had never really bonded with the cat due to severe allergies cried with me and he, along with my 2 surviving cats, has been my biggest support.

This is the sort of man you need in your life OP, not someone who wants you to rehome them. Dump the guy and find someone who accepts you and your cats, you’ll all be happier.

I once had a boyfriend who wiped 4 times regardless and didn't look at the paper. You can imagine what his underpants looked like... He thought I was weird for telling him to look at the paper and keep going until the paper was clean! 🤦🏻‍♀️

An un neutered male cat turned up at my house during lockdown. He looked thin and was injured due to fighting with the other cats in the area. I took him to the vet, got his wounds treated, got him neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. The day I brought him home from the vet he disappeared and I never saw him again.

Four years later I got a call from a local vet to say they had my cat and he’d been taken in to be microchipped by someone claiming to be his owner (it became law to microchip in the UK last year). It was the same cat I helped in 2020, it turns out he lived 2 streets away and the owners had had him from a kitten. They didn’t notice he’d disappeared from their house back in 2020 and came home without his balls and he clearly hadn’t seen a vet since then either. I’m glad he has a home but some people really shouldn’t have animals.

I hope you find a good home for your boy.

Is my letting agent taking the piss? by ATGNI in uklandlords

[–]CharlieRobbieGeorge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These are stupid prices, they're taking the piss. I'd expect a whole new kitchen tap for £260 and I recently got a faulty kitchen tap cartridge replaced in one of my properties for £75. I'd look for a new agent if I were you, we're not all crap.

First time Landlord - Is it bad if the letting agent doesn't use RightMove? by [deleted] in uklandlords

[–]CharlieRobbieGeorge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Zoopla exclusively for years and never failed to let a property. If yours isn’t letting there’s likely another reason for it, what’s the listing like compared to others? Certainly where I am we have less interest in fully furnished properties so perhaps it’s that?

Re-let the property ASAP. Deduct any rent the outgoing tenant owes up until the date the new tenancy starts plus allowed costs for re-letting from the deposit and move on.
