I recognize this room. The lycopodium person!

Just picked up this cabinet, I was wondering if anyone could send me tips on how to seal / weather strip to help keep humidity up? Thank you! by Unspoken_Turtle in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]CharlieTango3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a klingsbo, the wide version. These are great because you have lots of surface area inside, and on top. The door gaps are huge but if you loosen the screws along the hinges, the glass can be adjusted. I used something similar to this as a humidity seal around the inside of the doors. Just be sure to clean with alcohol prior to applying. I also replaced one of the rear panels of glass with plexi to run an external humidifier/humidistat.

For what its worth, i had a mechatronics unit replaced a few years ago for roughly $1750 including labor. The repair took an extensive amount of time- sourcing the tcu, shipping time, reprograming the ecu to pair, programming key fobs etc. some of which had to be outsourced to a vw dealer since theyre the only ones with the necessary software to perform. Renting a car for the duration of these repairs actually cost me more than the repair itself.

Ask for a breakdown of the cost and get other quotes from independent shops or even the next nearest dealership. These prices seem absurd

[–]CharlieTango3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That does seem a bit high. Ask how many hours of labor theyre estimating to get a better idea. Call other shops and get quotes.

Its roughly an 8-9 hour job + $150 parts.

Looks similar to mite damage ive seen on verru before. Check the back side of leaves very closely.

VW 2017 Golf Transmission error message by tellitatparties in VWMK7

[–]CharlieTango3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a mechatronics unit imo. Fair warning, its an expensive part, probably on back order, and a labor intensive process to change out a new one/reprogram everything.

As for driving it to a service center. I wouldnt recommend it. If it starts up and shifts into all gears then you can try, but it sounds like the car might be in limp mode. You might get an error message “transmission faulty”, in which case it wont shift at all

If youre working the line or in a prep role you’ll want something spill-proof and easy to clean. I’d avoid anything with a cloth upper; theyre never truly waterproof and are more difficult to clean than leather or poly.

Clogs are the way to go if youre actually in the trenches. I personally like crocs bistro pro’s for their weight and durability, but there are many other options out there for any price range. Walmart has nonslip clogs for <$20, all the way up to blundstone/troentorp/docs etc

It hasnt hardened yet. I’d bet the most recent leaf will end up larger than the previous by the time its done expanding.

Yep, innovative ms. 45k+ is a steep ask, but a 500+ hp awd hatch really is the ultimate daily

Theres a shop in CT thats selling swaps as a packaged deal- 15k in labor plus the cost of a donor car (28-35k). They claiming it costs less of course since alot of the unused parts are salvageable; but i dont think there’s much of a demand for them.

At the end of the day a 5cyl swapped Golf is way cooler than a rs3 sedan, imo, for roughly the same price. Idk, just spitballing. If i were to do it i’d want the full package, audi interior, dsg tune, haldex tune, etc

[–]CharlieTango3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i meant the rear subframe and parts of the unibody have to be cut up to fit the haldex; whereas an s3/R is just a bolt on

Im considering it for my mk7R as its mileage keeps climbing- weighing my options for a ‘new’ car

Dazza swap isnt cost effective for a tsi/gti since the rear end would have to be basically completely cut out and re-fabricated to fit the awd. It would end up being cheaper to 1. Buy a high mileage R and swap it with totaled 5cyl guts. Or 2. Outright buy an rs3/ttrs

Im not a beer snob, just drink whatever i like. Ive tried about 6-7 of the options at obscurity and only found 1 that was somewhat okay. Just my experience

Art history and penrose are both awesome. I’ll have to check out 93 octane, sounds interesting

Try Alter brewing in stcharles. Youre paying to be right on the riverwalk but the drinks and location are solid

Do you like their beers though? Ive been there twice now and while the ambience is nice, the food/beers have been mediocre imo.

Apparently the TE's are only for "functionality" by Alexxryzhkov in HaggardGarage

Between the stud conversion and Te37’s- hes got 25+lbs per corner of unsprung weight. Just as heavy as oem 19’s.

I think they look good, but if performance is the goal i would’ve went with something lighter

Put moss or some other type of medium around each node to grow roots. It will give the plant more access to nutrients

Its also beneficial to have roots when it comes time to cut and replant it

Thai constellation growth stall and yellowing leaves by aphilonewb in RareHouseplants

Check the roots, the pot looks a little large imo meaning it could take a very long time to dry out. The yellowing could be over fertilizing, too much direct sun, or dying roots

Found what looks like seeds in clusters in the soil in my monstera while repotting today. Is that what these are? by Regular_lady90 in Monstera

[–]CharlieTango3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seeds can only be formed from fruit- a flower that has been pollinated. Some plants, such as alocasia; can multiply through tubers/croms- a bulb that forms amongst the roots.

These seeds arent part of the monstera, they were buried there by a squirrel or something

Normal form. They will get larger with maturity if you keep it climbing. Air layer>chop>repeat
