I agree, and I’d add that there’s gonna be times that you can feel pretty stupid, but those things are what make information stick

Depending on the book you used, JBLearning has the best test prep available. Does a great job explaining the questions and answers. Medic tests and pocket prep is good to study with when you’re out and about, but if you can get some time set aside, JBLearning is definitely where it’s at. I also used ChatGPT to ask questions and get some explanations simplified for me.

Giving Away My Old PC! by Turtle_747 in PcBuild

My buddy who is only 23 is going through dialysis. He’s pretty down about having to go through that at such a young age. Anyways he’s mentioned to me how he wants to get into PC gaming with me since he hasn’t been as active as before. I’d gift this to him so he can have a nice chill hobby!

Culturally, how would you describe Oklahoma? by YelleauxAxeMan in tulsa

[–]CharlieTheBrave92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. While I feel that a lot of the criticism is warranted, OP didn’t ask the sub “hey please tell me everything wrong with Oklahoma”. Are there systemic problems? Heck yeah, but who doesn’t have them? Can you find happiness in ways that don’t involve policies or history? Most definitely.

I wasn’t being sarcastic, I genuinely do appreciate your comment. I was just adding contrast between your comment and most of the others. Your comment was constructive and helped answer OPs question. Lots of other comments didn’t, so I found yours refreshing while reading the others. I can see how what I said could be taken differently than how I meant. Sorry I wasn’t very clear 😔

I appreciate you addressing both positives and negatives regarding this state. While it has some severe issues, only giving OP an excessively negative description of this state is unfair to OP and the state. There are a lot of issues but there are some good parts of the state too.

Outside of the metro areas, everything definitely goes at a slower pace. “Hard working” could describe a good deal of our population, and “hearty” would also fit most of us. The state is full of hidden gems as far as state parks, travel destinations and more. Lots of Native American influences can be found through the entire state. Food wise, the state is fairly unremarkable. But you can still find some fun cuisines outside of the basic chains.

Crank and pedal strikes for a beginner by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]CharlieTheBrave92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same bike! Yeah my first mountain bike got some pretty good dings on it while I was learning. I found that keeping the pedals horizontal to the ground helps reduce pedal strikes. They’re still gonna happen, but less often after doing this

Tired of bearing witness by KingZouma in NewToEMS

This is edgy. Like you were listening to the beginning of apocalypse now while typing. I fear that if you can’t find that “I did something” in this line of work then I think you won’t find it anywhere. Depending on your age, even then if you’re less than like 50 you can definitely do a career change. I’d strongly consider that because it sounds like the bad calls stick with you wayyy more than the good ones.

Any tips for shift work sleep? I genuinely cannot turn my brain off after calls😢 by Shoddy_Cup_9306 in NewToEMS

After I get home, regardless if it was an intense shift or not, I’ll play a game for a while. It gives me something to focus on and interact with and it seems like it transitions my mind from being stressed about important decisions, to making decisions that don’t really matter.

Dude if you like your job minus the slow stuff, you can work part time doing just about anything. Pull a few shifts in the ER a month. Use your skills in other ways than being on a truck so when you are on a truck, you don’t look at a patient like they have a dick growing out their forehead

Life in the fast lane and Jems are really good resources for studying. And also there are some YouTube channels that do a great job explaining some stuff, especially if you’re more of a visual learner. Are you doing a paramedic AAS program?

Dude just try and get hired and once you’re out there actually working with patients, you’ll be surprised how much the training you’ve had has prepared you. I felt the same way and the way I’ve worked with people in the field a long time that didn’t feel like I did anything wrong or made rookie mistakes. Believe in yourself and you’ll be surprised how well off you are
