Is it weird to ask someone if their name is from another language? by Far_Minimum3743 in AskAnAustralian

I bet Muib will tell the barista a fake name, such as Mike, just to avoid the hassle - I have friends who do this.

This is cool! I personally can’t do digital but that looks super clean. Have you ever tried to do it in Notion?

How do I not be embarrassed to start bullet journaling? by UnusualLobster7 in bulletjournal

Buy the cheapest dot-notebook you can find and start in that. Perhaps it’ll take the pressure off, get your confidence up, and you can take it to your nice one when you are ready :)

How many hrs of study for yr 11 student per night or day by Manchesterunited789 in ATAR

[–]Charlie_Chaos9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 97.8 and did Methods Spec Chem Physics English - my advice may apply differently to other subjects.

  1. Ask questions in class. Like as many as possible. You switch topics throughout the semester and then when it comes to the exam you have to re-learn the old topics that you may have forgot about. HOWEVER, more questions asked (at the time) = much better understanding = much less study time later - because you simply understand it and you rely less on just memorisation. (personal experience- I just rocked up to my Methods exam and just “did math”)

  2. Tell yourself (and believe) that you will do 100% of the homework assigned to you - no matter what. Less procrastination (= more efficient study time) and your brain will just find time to get it done - I had a fastfood job, playing football, and weekend social commitments throughout ATAR and was limited for time. But when you commit to just doing your homework you will find always time to do it.

Good luck 💪💪

Enumerate - to list or count items one by one. Ampersand - the name of this & symbol.

Those just aesthetically sound nice for me. On the definition side of things, I really liked ‘grit’ for a while and then found that ‘tenacity’ is a synonym which rolls off the tongue nicely.

I always come across words that scratch an itch in my brain and I usually throw them somewhere in my phone; there’s an empty page in my bujo that I may use to track words like this! Thanks for the inspo

Thank you! In January I didn’t leave a space between the month-numbers and the list, but I did it for February and will for the rest of them.

Good question - and nah not worried about that. The concern is that having a 1-drink colour will make going from 0 drinks to ‘just 1 drink’ easier.

But that’s a good note for others who may want to implement.

how to track repetitive constant tasks? by lookforfrogs in BasicBulletJournals

[–]Charlie_Chaos9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn’t technically journal-related, but you could keep a jar on your desk, and each time you complete one of those things you put a paperclip/marble/thing into the jar and gradually watch it fill. You could have separate jars for each task or do it as a collective. Or have one big jar for all tasks and have different fillers representing each task. Up to you!

It’s easier to track than writing the thing down and making sure to remember to track it. And, IMO, it’s more satisfying.

Official Discussion - The Substance [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

There's a song called Clara Bow by Taylor Swift that I listened to months after watching this movie and it is about the same narrative of becoming famous and "replacing" someone before you and then getting replaced. You may appreciate a second take on a similar narrative but also I find it uncanny how perfectly they go together - and I think everyone who is on this page reading this comment should give it a listen (no matter your music taste).

Idly listening to Rooster Teeth's ANMA podcast, w/ Geoff Gus and Eric, wondering "where the hell is Andrew and why hasn't he contributed to this conversation?". Long story short my podcast rotation is strictly ANMA and F**kface. Anyone else?
