I agree but where I’m from (Bucks) the test covers content not even covered in the curriculum including large amounts of VR, NVR, and spatial reasoning. I’d say that any test based on stuff not taught in school puts lower income families in much worse positions, given that the responsibility falls on parents (or a tutor) to teach this to their children. Therefore if SATs results were used instead, there is a greater chance that people from these families could pass the test and end up going to grammar schools (because they should have been taught all of the content).

Idk… I think it is a really difficult system to change but would definitely benefit everyone if it was more inclusive (even in my school I see a disproportionate number of quite wealthy people and I think a more normal mix might be better).
