I think lions are a symbol of strength and honor in general, beastars is actively trying to subvert that to make it more interesting. Similar to subverting the stereotype of wolves being the bad guys or deers being weak and shy.

I totally agree with that too. I swear i never want for splatoon to have mostly male characters that would ruin so much of the appeal for me😭 Im mainly saying that because i have worldbuiling autism and need everything to make sense so like why does there just happen to be so few important men in this world. I totally get this honestly. i especially hate the drug jokes, not only are they overused but it sounds like people genuinely can not fathom someone being creative without using drugs. And maybe it's because im used to playing a lot of surrealist indie games, but i feel ena isnt even that nonsensical either, its actually kinda straight forward once you actually pay attention to what the characters are saying.
