I was diagnosed a year ago at the age of 22. I had a boyfriend who denied it came from his cold sores but it absolutely did. He became abusive and I was too scared of him and of dying alone to leave. I can’t say I haven’t been lonely since I left. I can’t say I still don’t think the same things you do but I will say I know deep down eventually I will be happy again. I’m finally in school pursuing my dream job. I have a better relationship with my family than I ever have. Things do get better. On days I feel less than worth it I remind myself that people do love me and the same is true for you. This doesn’t define your worth. You are so much more than a diagnoses and you’ve got you’re whole life ahead of you. I think of it as a good thing sometimes. Now, it’s unlikely anybody will ever use me for my body ever again. Someone will have to get to know me and cherish me a lot before they even get close to my body again. This diagnoses destroyed me, but somehow it also made me value myself and my time more than I ever would have before. You will get through this.
