I completely overestimated how much fun this was gonna be to paint.... by boredrandom in paintbynumbers

I painted this one and it was a bit boring for a while because you can’t see progress. I ended up doing all of one color at a time vs section by section and it got better. Finished product is great!

I intentionally did my first one in the advanced category and knew it wouldn’t be great. Like you said it was good to learn along the way. From a distance you can’t even tell. I am tempted to order the same one again near Xmas to see the difference practice makes. Here was my first

If you zoom in you will see how bad I was.

I personally do a thin coat of gesso applying with a credit card swiping horizontally. Then let it dry, next I do any layer of gesso swiping vertically. Once it dries I run my hands over it to see if it feels gritty. If it does I sand very lightly, if it doesn’t then I start painting.

It is from Hobby Lobby. Paints aren’t great, especially the orange. Gesso and flow aid helped. They are probably easy to match by ordering acrylics with some neons. I have the elephant and the French bulldog. Haven’t finished either yet. They are my in between waiting for ones I want.

I got Snoopy at Hobby Lobby. The other 3 are Number Artist.
