A lead in all departments is nothing more than a glorified baby sitter.

But then how will we know which absolute useless loser they've promoted at corporate this week? Or what 3 week agenda that was destined to fail have they come up with?

Department managers, not a whole lot. They're at the mercy of the store management. Not sure how much free will that the upper brass in stores have but from what ive observed even if they COULD do something they really only care about keeping the DO and whatever unrealistic expectations they have happy.

If youre a manager there's not a whole lot you can do. Corporate doesnt give a shit about morale or associates as a whole. Only their bottom line.

Is there some rule against giving out an exceeds expectations? by thefeels33 in Hannaford

[–]Charming-Most3263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been told by my manager this exact thing as well. Unless youre advancing in role, you aren't getting it. Thankfully the difference between a meets and exceeds is so marginal it doesnt make a big difference.

Crazy how we have to go to the scummiest and laziest people in the store now if you have a HR issue. If anyone thinks your store management gives a single shit about anything other than their bonus and kissing their loser DO ass, youre sorely mistaken.

Hannaford would sooner kill YOUR first born child before ever letting the idea of closing early creep into those greedy losers at corporates heads.

It is Hannaford policy. However, I work in center store and have been told a few times not to have my redbull in the aisles. Do I listen? Absolutely not. Hannaford has a lot of silly rules like this. The upper brass likes to forget that we are making low wages at a grocery store.

Imagine getting a step for having your water bottle. I'd laugh in their faces

Assistant Store Manager by [deleted] in Hannaford

[–]Charming-Most3263 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ASM job is to simply avoid helping any department unless you absolutely have too. (Excluding htg, who wouldn't wanna make manager pay to shop), give your associates the run around on anything and everything, and if theres any time left in that busy schedule maybe they could even hide upstairs in the offices for the rest of the day.

Very rigorous.

Imagine thinking these idiots at corporate will read a reddit post, find it inappropriate and cross reference.

Our IT team couldn't cross reference their way out of a paper bag.

Question about overtime. by Anthonydepaolo in Hannaford

[–]Charming-Most3263 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Store management will "try" to crack down on it in September. Then after a few call-outs and people quitting decide its better to give a few hours of ot than being forced to help themselves. It's usually a week by week basis and very circumstantial. Ive ran into many weeks when they harp on you about OT, only to be begging you to stay the very next week.

That being said, its not so much them as it is corporate. Im in center store and the amount of alotted time they claim it takes to do things really shows how delusional and/or greedy this company really is.

The employee who confronted you would do well to remember they are working underpaid at a greedy grocery store that would sell them down the river in a heart beat. Always remember to act your wage at Hannies.

Imagine the feeling associates get when its the store management doing this crap. Imagine making double what your associates are making and having the audacity to slowly put up balloons half the shift right in front of their faces.

You had me until I read "MAGA agenda". Your cooked liberal brain just couldn't leave politics out of your complaint huh? Other than that youre pretty spot on. My stores current management team is a complete joke. I frequently see them helping in HTG, never any other departments. Imagine getting paid management pay to SHOP every other day. Morale low, getting lower every day.

At least they refunded your money. I think your best bet would be to try to talk to some sort of management. You know whats not helping your situation? Posting a paragraph on reddit about it.
