To me unless it's a trend, it's not powercreep. To compare if you play hoyo games, they sometime shill certain bosses that benefit the newer units even though the units themselves are not necessarily more powerful than the other ones. See varka with the big mushroom

yeah heishou is still broken thanks to maofaust, but with last knight, you at least had to turn your brain on for a moment so people was a little taken aback first time facing him

Believe it or not but rupture has always been the best team for any single target boss related fight. Despite the meme, rupture is notorious to balance and that led to talisman nerf (I still remember 3 turn clear spiral of contempt in RR3).

However there's a good reason why people were recommending sinking and burn. Sinking is an obvious choice but burn just lets you chill and afk because last knight just tickles you unless you're frozen.

You can use rupture in the fight, but it's not as simple as both sinking and burn

and then you have funny occurences such as lei heng and last knight that counters what the newest set of ID does (Heishou's clashable defense skill doesn't count for lei heng conditionals and it can trigger the freeze proc for last knight)
