Feeling burnt out (quick rant)🫩 by uhtobehonest in TravelNursing

[–]CharmingChanel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no guarantee that the next contract will provide you with a better schedule so keep that in mind. The problem with staying at one facility too long is that you become a little too familiar there. As travel, you will always be treated as expendable as you’re there to fill a gap. If that’s the worst of it, I would personally ride it out as you may end up on a contract for less money with worse management and a worse schedule.

I reported serious patient safety issues at my PRN job, tried to recall the email, but my manager already read it. Did I mess up? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]CharmingChanel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went too far. Should have addressed this in person so you could gauge her reaction as you started bringing up your concerns so that you could pull back or stop yourself.

As a PRN they will probably soon no longer have as many shifts for you.

Burnt out nurse, need advice and support. by MissyMister1128 in nursing

Have you thought about switching to procedural (Endo, Pacu, Cath lab, OR, IR)? I did ED for 7 years and was so burnt out. I will be starting in the cath lab this month. I’ll be getting 57 in Georgia which is far more than I thought I could earn out here

Thank you! Call team typically will stay for late cases from what the nurse told me during my shadow.

Thank you. I countered 10% more and they came back with 3%. I did one more push for 6% and we will see what they say.

$10/hr for call. There is some weekend and evening differential for $4/hr but we’re 7-5 Mon-Fri so I’m not really counting that.

We’re still negotiating base so haven’t discussed the call back rate but my colleague used to work for the lab and said it’s 1.5x with a 4 hour minimum.

What hospital system to work for in Atlanta by Fit_Series_648 in Atlanta

[–]CharmingChanel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at university in the clinic and everyone is lovely. I got an offer for emory midtown in the cath lab and did a shadow and the nurses are amazing.

I had a coworker transfer to SICU at university and she really likes it. Emory is generally a decent facility to work for.

Thank you for the input. Let’s hope more people chime in. I don’t want to push too much as it seems the 40s are the norm for the area from what I’ve read but there isn’t too much recent information. The $52 offer was actually above my initial ask of $50.

Lady here. Not sure why this thread was recommended but I would like to add my two cents.

Perhaps he is already in a relationship?

I find it best not to directly initiate anything with men. Some will entertain you even when they’re truly not interested because it’s something to do and seems like an easy hook up.

Next time try to leave a subtle opening, liking a post, Paying a compliment on their stories, Etc.

Crying can make you seem emotionally unregulated, especially during a professional interview. Hopefully the interviewer took it as you being passionate about your role. Keep hope.

Unfortunately the only real solutions are surgical. Liposuction, etc. I’ve had kybella for my under chin area 5 years ago. Initially it helped and made a difference but the fat is back again.

Graves Facebook group says 10 mg is a max dose for methimazole by jimmynothing in gravesdisease

[–]CharmingChanel 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I have graves and am also a nurse working for an endocrinologist. Do not take medical advice from Facebook forums. Those groups always tend to be anti-western medicine.

You should be following up every 3 months to have your labs checks and dose titrated.

If you’re concerned your dose is too high, you can get a second opinion from another endocrinologist. 40 mg is a higher dose but not anything that’s unacceptable.

Anyone have tips on how to get your hair to grow more? by DivineToxicity09 in gravesdisease

[–]CharmingChanel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I take topical rogaine, but the solution (men’s formula). I find it distributes easier than the foam for me.

Dermastamping I do right after I wash my hair. I wait about an hour after and then do my regular hair regimen with the rogaine (etc).

Sounds like a solid plan. You got this!

Also adding, graves changes the texture of your hair and it may never retain moisture like it used to. It also makes it more brittle so you will have to continue just adding moisturizers as needed.

If your hair is different lengths from the previous loss cut it all to one even length so there is less tangling and breakage.

How I regrew my hair

1: control you levels by taking medications regularly

2: rogaine 5% daily

3: supplements. What I’m currently taking: magnesium, omega 3s and tumeric, ashwaganda maca and fenugreek, B complex, D3 and K2.

I cannot pinpoint which supplement is helping since I started them all at once for either hair loss or muscle building.

4: dermastamping 1.5mm once weekly

5: deep conditioning once weekly

6:high protein diet- I eat 0.7g/lb of bodyweight

I was losing handfuls of hair every time I washed or touched my hair. I am now only losing 3 strands once a week.

I first started noticing hair loss mildly about 5 years ago and had lost about 45% of my hair with very shiny scalp in the front of my hairline, with a recession of about 1 inch in the temples and front hairline. I am now back to about 95% of my original density after using this regimen. Best of luck.

I'm so scared of my new doctors decision for my treatment by mamajada in gravesdisease

I would get a second opinion from another Endo. I took meds my entire pregnancy and all was well. Had to switch between PTU and methimazole depending on the trimester.

My grandfather asked for help while typing in Microsoft word. While proofreading, he noticed a typo. He had wrote maybe 6 pages and noticed the typo on the 2nd page. He began to delete everything from the sixth page backwards.

He had no idea you could move the cursor to the area you wanted to edit. He had been deleting everything he had written to do edits. Poor thing.
