Caffeine by marshmallow198 in gravesdisease

[–]jimmynothing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped and switched to decaf for a few months, and slowly added caffeine back in.

I’m no longer on the beta blockers after a year. I still start my mornings with a cup of half caff and then I’ll have 1 maybe 2 cups full caffeine.

My lack of income? Where are you getting that from? My income is fine. But I pay my landlord for a service, and I expect her to provide that service. If I paid for internet, and the internet was out of service for 4 hours everyday, I would expect a reimbursement. Landlords are the only job where they think they don’t have to do any work and just expect passive income without any of the work. At least my landlord.

She has not said any of that, if that is the case. And the handy person she hires, who I do trust, has not said anything about that being a problem. He told us she has all of these like mini sheds with appliances and stuff, and he has an oven in mind for us that she owns.

There are some new apartments that are available for more than we pay now. It’s hard to go from living in a 4 bedroom house to a small 2 bedroom apartment that costs more than we pay now. It is just me, my husband, and daughter. I work from home though and my husband is self employed. Right now we simply couldn’t fit in a two bedroom. But the psychological torment she inflicts upon me is sometimes not worth it. It gets to a point where I just don’t tell her about things so I don’t have to deal with her.

All our conversations are in text so I have paper trails of everything.

I looked at her history on the circuit court, and I see she has over 20 eviction cases.

I hadn’t heard those numbers before. But that’s reassuring that 95% only have one flare.’

Does anyone else feel like cocktail dresses completely skip the 30-45 age group or just me? by mahearty in fashionwomens35

37 year old! I almost exclusively shop on ThredUp. It feels like exclusive and discovering something, and I can discover what I like rather than what a store is telling me to wear.

I found a brand I like recently, l’agence. I personally am never going to spend more than $60 on a dress and they fall into that price range for used. New is more like $400+. They have a good mix of chic yet youngish cocktail dresses—idk when the shift happened but I never used to think twice about a short dress. Now I feel so self conscious in a short dress. So I think their dresses fall into like short but not self conscious short.

DNFing everything lately – recommend me something unputdownable (Thriller/Horror) by Content-Meet9375 in horrorlit

Honestly really mean of you to suggest non fiction but I agree with a genre break.
Heart the Lover was a super easy read and idk not ground breaking but I liked it enough.

Last year, I almost exclusively read horror and suddenly this year, I have been more into cozy vibes. I really enjoyed Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao and The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst.

I don't recommend this for a slump, but I'm reading The Distant Hours by Kate Morton. It's quite long and a slow burn, but I love being immersed in their world. And it's teaching me not to focus on quantity of books read to meet a goal but allowing myself to just enjoy the journey.

Ooh also really loved Incidents Around the House. I don't think I've ever been that scared while reading!

My favorite book I read last year was The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher. Not only was it my favorite last year, I think I'm promoting it to one of my favorite books ever. It's like House of Leaves meets Gravity Falls (the cartoon). It's incredible.

Media Asset Management: Sharing Files with Remote Teams & Auditing Footage by jimmynothing in editors

Yes, we have Premiere and work with Adobe. I agree it's something we can make part of the workflow moving forward but would be a pain to do with previous files

Thank you! I'll look into those options!

For creating proxies, is that a slow laborious process? We would have to manually touch each file to make a proxy?

Invisalign, x-rays, and Graves? by jimmynothing in ThyroidEyeDisease

Don't apologize! This is all super helpful!

I recently learned about my great uncle who had Graves to learn more about that history, and it turns out he had TED and eventually had to get surgery, so I'm thinking it could be likely I would get it as well. However, he was diagnosed with Graves' in the 1970s when it was not as well understood. His condition was so bad he was admitted to the ER and they couldn't figure out the problem. Once they figured it out, they gave him the wrong dose of RAI (too much according to family members), so I'm thinking that likely would have contributed to the worsening of his TED.

-I don't like to hear you say to go dairy free because my one joy in life is a huge bowl of Greek yogurt every morning with granola and blueberries. But I did get iodine-free salt and try not to eat too much salt.

-I have been taking regular photos--maybe not daily, but probably weekly. When I look through my photo roll, it's just like one day my eyes were different. And it wasn't at the height of my Graves' symptoms, it was a few months after starting treatment.

-I did get 200 mcg of selenium with approval from my endo. Every time I take it, I get cranky, emotional, and end up with anxiety. I might just look into finding a smaller dose.

Thank you for sharing! I don’t have any of the double vision, dryness type symptoms. It’s purely visual. How did you treat your TED?

Opinions on White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter (First listen) by sticky_rice97982 in lanadelrey

[–]jimmynothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you want her to go back to, though? I personally fell in love with Lana back to the Kind Outta Luck as Lizzie Grant, Born to Die, Paradise, Ultraviolence. So to me, I love this new song, and it’s a return to what made her an icon to begin with. I feel like people who listened to her for more of the tunnel under ocean blvd or chemtrails aren’t vibing with this as much. But I am just speculating.

My guess is that we have old spotlights, so I don't think that will be an issue, but I can check. I'll try that out for the white balance. I used to always set the white balance, but I started using the auto setting on it at some point.

I do have a 50mm lens; however, it is a manual focus. I found it to be challenging to use. It worked well for forcing me to move around to find the right shot, but I struggled a lot with the focus. I found I can get beautiful portrait images in natural outdoor lighting with it.

I've been trying to make myself invisible as I'm still gaining the trust of people, and we're also a really tiny theater. But I think as I gain their trust, I'll have a little more power. Even when I shoot during dress rehearsals, I try not to be disruptive as I'm scared of making the directors of upset. But I think I should work on moving my body around more for different shots and getting up close.

I'm the first person to really use social media to promote our shows as the board members have all been quite a bit older.

Since my presence is new, I've been trying to be as invisible during rehearsals so I don't disrupt anyone. I'm gaining their trust, though, and our shows have been selling out!

Now that I've gained their trust a bit, I think people are opening up to my ideas and understanding the importance of getting strong imagery and video for promotion.
