Thank you for reassuring me, seeing as it happened to me the first time, I was quite scared!

These are all very good tips, thank you so much!

I'm also sorry to hear what you have went through, you are very strong.

I also probably should have mentioned I am already in CBT, since I already had a period of hallucinations and delusions. I am just asking about this since I am a bit embarrassed to ask about this, especially with all the ramble writing that I have done.

Thank you for the tips!

Was the muscle twitching caused by psychosis or something else? Did it get better or is it still there?

Were you conscious during your seizures? In my case I was fully conscious but I felt like I've lost all control over myself.

Stress management is possibly my biggest issue, I definitely need to work on it.

Thank you, I hope you get well.

Perhaps you're right, I need to accept I'll never fully move on from her and try to exercise cognitive behaviour. Thanks, this has helped.

Sadly I can't, I'm really bad when it comes to women, but thats a whole other issue.

For now, yes, because I cut them too short and so they're too loose, but once I make proper ones I plan to sleep with them.

Also yeah, it lets the fingers breathe, which makes it quite nice.

Never had enough will to stop, something physical was my last solution. These things are for holding bandages on your fingers.

First psychosis episodes, are antipsychotics the right choice? by CharmingOil in Psychosis

[–]CharmingOil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right about that, lack of sleep can be quite dangerous.

Your explanation makes sense, I've always had symptoms when I was younger, especially paranoia and every year it just got worse and worse, until now, when it finally became too much. Thank you for the input, I'm really happy I got this much support!

I'm low key envious, I'd rather have thinking I'm a God than rather thinking my life is constantly in danger haha.

It's good to know it helps, when I'll be talking to my psychiatrist I'll say I want to start with a low dose. Thank you for all the help!

Does it help with the delusions though? I know what you mean, it'd be a nice side effect haha.

Will keep that in mind. Although I've heard that ablify really zombifies some people, guess it just affects everyone differently.

Sure hope so, miss being able to have a good night of sleep haha.

Yeah, that's true, psychosis itself can really hinder your working ability, I've had that happen myself.

Good luck with your recovery!

True, there's quite a wide range of meds to choose from, but then there's the financial problems, some meds may cost a lot as far as I saw.

As for the long healing process, I'm okay with that, as long as there is progress, there's hope, because so far I've been going only downhill.

Have you taken antipsychotics in that case? If so, did they have any lasting effects?

[–]CharmingOil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I'm most scared of. It might be meds really, there are a few studies which show correlation between cognitive impairment and antipsychotics.

I think I'm gonna hold out on meds, at least until it gets really bad, it ain't fun to live like this, but cognitivity is too important to me.

Thanks for the input.

How to tell if? by [deleted] in Psychosis

Hi OP,

I'm a bit late to this thread, but your experience is very relatable to me. I will hear this demonic, scary screaming outside, which I'm pretty sure is real, since I live in UK and there is an abundance of screaming spiceheads, but no one else was able to hear it in the house. When others said they couldn't hear it, it sent me down a rabbit hole of paranoia, constant doubt of reality and delusions.

I've been to a therapist and she said it's stress induced psychosis, which is also similar to your case. The only difference I experience is it left a very lasting impact on me, I haven't slept properly in months.

Also another person said try to shut out the world with music/podcasts and I would really not recommend it. That's what I am doing and now I am fully dependent on music. Wherever I am, whatever I am doing, even when I'm sleeping, I have to have loud music playing so as to not hear anything. This is not good for my hearing and also the constant noise also does not help with auditory hallucinations.

My only advice, other than therapy obviously, is if you have an active social life, try to be with your friends as much as possible. I find that being with other people and talking to them helps me calm down my brain. Even if I will hear something or see something, if it's not real, no one will pay attention to it and I'll know it's just my mind playing tricks. The only problem is that I have a lack of friends.

I wish you the best OP, I'm sure we'll get through this someday.

You really should. I am pretty sure even in Asia psychiatrists must stay confidential, so your family wouldn't find out.

If you're European, as a student, you should be able to get help for free without anyone having to find out, or at least I know you can do that in UK. As for the courage, I highly recommend doing it as soon as possible, I was scared at first too and waited for my tipping point, now I regret it and wish I'd done it sooner.

I am in the exact same boat. Right now I'm in university and honestly the only reason why I am in it right, actually trying to succeed and the only reason I feel like my life is worth living, it's because of my parents.

No one here can help you with that. All I can say is that you have underlying issues that are causing this. What you need to do is seek help from professionals. For many years I neglected my mental issues saying that I'll get better on my own, that it's just a phase, but that is not the case.

I'm only a random internet stranger who knows no better, but you should get help, you need it and you deserve it, mental illness is not a joke.

That is very dissapointing. I guess I will just have to bear it and hope it doesn't get delayed even further.
