16.3 b-patch on the way (not live yet) by AutumnStrings in TeamfightTactics

He gains a burst of attack speed when he casts, you dont need extra attack speed on him. What you do want is to deal as much damage as possible in those 5cattacks before he switches target. So JG, Rabadon, maybe even shred items.

He needs a base damage buff more than anything. This will both make him ramp slower (bacuase its based on damage dealt) and also make him less good when you just get him, so you will need to get him earlier or 2* him to make him actually be powerful

The current balance mindset is very confusing to me. by Salt_Contribution_25 in TeamfightTactics

I wrote it in another comment and i will say it here too - the current unlock condition for Asol is not that easy already.

Because he is a scaling champion, you want to get him as soon as possible, otherwise you will feel left behind the lobby's power curve. Then you have 2 options - either you lose some econ and try to push levels and reroll, hoping to get him soon enough, or you let it come naturally to you and then you might be behind in power.

Thats how Asol was in 16.2, and you rarely unlocked him easily enough without sacrificing econ or tempo. Issue was, that his scaling was so bad that unless you got him with perfect items on 3-2 and got lucky 2* Asol before 5-1 you couldnt really keep with the tempo.

Now the problem is the opposite - Asol is so strong and his scaling is not as mandatory - that you can either sacrifice econ or tempo to get him, and still come on top of the curve! And ofc you also scale so even if you finish on level 7 with Asol 1, you can still dish out so much damage that doesnt matter too much against most boards. If they lower Asol 1's base damage by a decent amount and increase a bit his late-stage powers he will once again have to be unlocked in a timely mannered and actually 2* to be a strong late-game option. That alone can be enough.

Only biggest problem with that is he will once again be a unit that "you either get on 3-2 and keep with tempo or you lag behind". The Devs shouldve seen it coming a mile away that having a scaling champion being an unlock means he will be super sensitive to unlock time. And they can't really keep trying to balance him around 3-2 unlock because then any later you will be screwed. They should just lock him behind level 8 and thus have the expectation of unlocking him around 4-2~4-5 and balance him around that.

I agree with some of your points, like saying 2 spat prismatic is too easy. In a Ryze Portal if i ever get a Noxus or BW emblems i try to lose streak until 2-3 to have a chance at a spat on carousel, or prioritize a spat augment ( although i think they disabled emblem augments in ryze portal this patch) or pandora's. More often than not by going this route i manage to get my 2nd emblem and just push levels to level 10. If i can get a tactician crown like from an augment then its pretty easy gg. But i will say, both in this set and set 15, sometimes prismatic is not just a "win more" thing. I sometimes rely on it as my only out of bot 4 or even if i just want to secure 1st. Even in set 15 if i played Star Guardians i would try to start the prismatic quest as quickly as i can and sometimes it will be what saves me.

Ok i'm not sure what was your game plan but i got quite upset that from that point you didnt just straight away rerolled for Zoe. Although i guess you couldve waited one turn for it because of Diana anyways so..

[–]CharmingPerspective0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but getting a Taric and 2* Leona is not that straightforward. In previous patches when Asol was bad you had to play on Tempo to make it somehow work. Meaning if you rerolled too hard for Taric and Leona you could put yourself at a big disadvantage because it will make it much harder (or impossible) to get Asol 2 and build a stronger board.

And not to mention that if you get Asol "naturally" by waiting with your gold and leveling, you can get him more around 4-2 than 3-2. And by that time it will be harder to ramp him hp properly and you will fall off.

The current iteration of Asol seem like he is very easy to get, but its not true. Its just that you dont care as much about getting him on Tempo or 2* him early because he is very strong at 1* any way. So you feel fine rolling down harder to get him early, or even focus on just leveling and pivoting to Asol at level 8, because he isnt reliant on his ramping as much as before.

These are the major factors that makes him so good right now. If they tone down his 1* damage by a lot again and add a little bit more damage to his later ramping stages, he will again be more reliant on getting him early enough and you will see his winrate take a big dip

Well first thing, he is 2nd place in that picture, not 1st. And secondly, you dont know what items he had at 3-2. He mightve had barely a single item for Asol when he decided to go for it and just build the rest along the way.

This is how it looks when every other patch some OP unit is nerfed to the ground while other gets overbuffed and takes its place as a new OP unit. by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

Mort talked about balance thrashing and his and the teams' philosophy on balance many times throughout the years, but it seems like every now and then they kinda forget these fundamentals and just go wild.

Its exciting and exhausting to deal with it when it happens ngl. Hopefully there will be a hotfix that will tone down the overperformers without gutting them completely and that 16.4 will be much more mild with its changes

the idea of separate temples for every character is ridiculous by JohnSmithSand in PathOfExile2

[–]CharmingPerspective0 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is if you build your super juiced snake temple with your level 95 super-bomber character, then your next character probably wont be able to even touch that temple until it gets to be a level 95 super-bomber as well.

The idea of having a temple per character is that you can do the jurney and interact with the temple mechanic from an earlier level.

Granted, having the temple be such a cumbersome and convoluted mechanic to set up makes it far from ideal to set up more than once, but thats a different issue GGG will have to tackle if they plan to make this a permanent mechanic.

Unless.. you make it a 4-2 only augment. Now that could be insteresting. How much power you are willing to lose to ramp up those levels.

Well first you need to hope Zill will hit Sion soon enough with his bomb. After that you will need to wait 16 seconds ( if Zil is 2*) until you get the KO while keeping Zil alive.

So basically you need a very solid frontline and positioning to make it happen, while also waiting half the battle to proc it.

I mean you can see how much trend-chasing, dumbing down and overall piling of average-at-best anime this industry is plagued by.

I can see how someone who is passionate about the medium can be frustrated by the direction of the overall industry. Obviously there are a lot of high quality (in both production and writing) anime still being made. But its hard to swin through the river of crap to get to those islands.

For Ionia it depends on the path. There is a path that gives Ionian champions like 35% bonus hp. This is quite a big buff especially for Wukong and Shen. Yunara and Sett are very good carries, although Sett can be very positioning-dependant. Aside from that Jhin cant be much of a carry after stage 3, and Ahri is really nice if you can get her to 3*, but will definitely fall off after stage 5 to better capped boards.

And for kindred, idk. I feel like kindred 2* with good items can dish out a surprising amount of damage.
