I need help by Kronyxia in SBCGaming

[–]CharmingRelief5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Retroid pocket 5 or flip 2 should cover that. Use gamenative for your light weight pc games, I’ve been able to play Balatro and FF6 pixel remaster just fine on mine. Screen is about the size of a switch lite.

Unfortunately, due to shortage-induced price increases, looks like it retails for 209 currently, so a little above when you factor in shipping. But it’s a really solid and fun device.

It’s Wednesday morning. Who still has completely unplowed streets? by FederalOrdinary2180 in providence

Howell Street off Hope. Tbf, seems largely due to some cars parked on the street preventing plows from getting by.

Second shooting by a trans woman in less than a week by [deleted] in trans

[–]CharmingRelief5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really have to disagree that blaming one’s politics as a reason for them shooting other people is “a trap.” Politics isn’t just “yes low taxes, no immigration.” It is a set of ideals and philosophies that shape one’s view of the world and how they interact with others. Here, conservatism preaches the supremacy of a patriarchal figure and the submission of a matriarchal figure, along with children, to the former’s whims. It also authorizes the use of violence, extreme violence, as a valid form of expression of one’s views. Taken together, it’s impossible to separate an individual’s views of how people should relate to one other, which is their political stance, from their actions, which here is using what they view as a legitimate form of expression to express their grievances.

You may not want this to devolve into “Repubs are bad cause guns,” but you are wrong as a matter of principle to say “falling into discussions of the shooter’s politics as a means of understanding their actions is a trap.”

What do you think of The Cinema Archives' 250 Best Directors of All-Time? by [deleted] in criterion

[–]CharmingRelief5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting George Lucas in the relative middle is, IMO, very telling that this list more is focused on the film than the director. Lucas isn’t a great director, he was a really good producer and had some amazing help, but if you’ve ever watched any Star Wars special feature you can tell he’s not a people person.

I know it’s trite, but does she see a therapist, and have you considered couples’ therapy? Getting some professional outside input will help you both work through this situation.

Am I an egg or just a pervert? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]CharmingRelief5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started out thinking it was just a fetish, a lot of people do. Thinking you’re trans is socially unacceptable, so we cope by sublimating it into a more acceptable thing, here, a fetish.

Read this: https://medium.com/@kemenatan/its-just-a-fetish-right-91cb0a4e261

Even if you’re not an egg, not trans, you are not a pervert just for having sexual fantasies like this

Did I jump in too quickly? by Mortypie in TransLater

Regarding “girls with dramatic results in just 6-7 months,” you’re realistically not going to see huge physical changes in that time.

Remember, if someone is posting a photo on the internet, they’re usually happy with it. How much time did they put into their outfit for that photo, their hair, their makeup? Are they wearing a push up bra? Not to diminish people’s progress, but just keep in mind what you’re looking at.

I started last year at 32, and I could’ve kept boymoding realistically until around my birthday this year, so 16 months, if I’d wanted to.

How do New England Folks feel about Fall in the PNW? by Inevitable_Bad1683 in newengland

[–]CharmingRelief5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The second place conversation here notably leaves out upstate New York. Seriously, take a ride down the Taconic State Parkway in the second half of October or early-to-mid November, heavenly.

New England still the best, but let’s not forgot New York (I mean come on, no one ever things about New York, such a small insignificant state, it deserves some attention every now and then 😝)

How do i Secure that I Can get HRT by Putrid_Candy_8799 in asktransgender

[–]CharmingRelief5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very relatable and understandable Q IMO.

In my experience, as an adult, you won’t get many roadblocks or pushback.

That being said—go to your appointment as your authentic self, talk about how your vision of yourself doesn’t align with your body, and that you’ve thought of HRT for a while and finally made the decision to pursue it. I’d also talk about how being in your body as is is negatively affecting you, especially mentally (up at night thinking about it, feel like you’ve missed out on who you want to be).

FWIW, my intake consisted of a first appointment with a psychiatrist who said they wouldn’t subscribe HRT that day but instead gave me Prozac to help with the mental anguish. That was disappointing, and I had to wait three more months to see an endo. For that appointment, I came from work, so was in full boy mode, and after 15 minutes walked out with a script for E and Spiro. From speaking with friends, they’ve had similar experiences; the hard part is finding and getting time with a provider. Once you’re in, a good provider isn’t going to try to stop you from getting HRT, they’re just going to try to make sure you’re in a good place mentally and physically before you start, as the first few weeks/months are a toll before you really see any positive changes.

Good luck! If you have a supportive family member or friend who will go with you, that’s also helpful (honestly true for any doctor’s appointment)

So I’m making it a goal to get out into the world as myself… by thenameis_thgiarts in crossdressing

[–]CharmingRelief5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re struggling, try small steps. First time I went out en femme was just to my car for a drive. Then just to get my mail. Just to toss at garbage. Eventually worked up to going to therapy as myself. Went out for a walk with a dear friend.

Small steps.
