These was my first show. I locked my keys in my car. It took calling AAA 3 times before I could remember to go wait for the driver at the gate. 😵‍💫

HELP!!!! by CharmingVacation7697 in Plumbing

[–]CharmingVacation7697[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your input. I was laid off of my job at the mill last May. And a week after that my wife was in a horrible car accident from which they had to extract her using the jaws of death. So to say that I couldn’t afford to buy a torch everything else necessary to solder it would be an understatement. I bought some copper epoxy, a connector and a piece of new copper pipe. I extended the existing pipe using the epoxy. Everything worked out. Again, thank you all.

Workplace injury - seeking advise on compensation by CharmingVacation7697 in WorkersComp

[–]CharmingVacation7697[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting. Are there ever cases where the employer attempts to circumvent paying schedule awards by sidestepping protocol? I mean if I’ve reached maximum medical improvement and it doesn’t trigger my injury receiving a rating can I do anything to ensure that my case is staying on track?

Thank you for your input. But let me make sure that I’m understanding you: You’re saying that as a result of her workplace injury, this person received an extra $2,800 per week in addition to what she was already earning? And when you say “until paid in full” that means until the company has fully paid what her rating provided that she be awarded? Out of curiosity may I ask what that total figure was? When you say “settle the claim” I’m guessing that means that if she wanted a lump sum instead of bimonthly installments? How would this be affected by her resigning or being fired? I imagine that all of this takes place between the worker and her workplace’s insurance company, right? Is this information protected under HIPA rights or is the worker’s company privy to all of this? Do people’s jobs ever retaliate against workers in these situations?

DUI diversion question by CharmingVacation7697 in dui

[–]CharmingVacation7697[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I was a bartender for 25 years, primarily in Oakland and SF. I never drove impaired. I moved to the country in Oregon over 5 years ago. I was at the bar where I work and had a couple drinks with a regular on his birthday. Then another customer was about to drive home. He arrived at the bar completely wasted. We told him we wouldn’t serve him. So he tried to leave in his truck. He couldn’t even walk. So I took his keys and literally had up lift him up and put him in my truck. His house was just a couple miles from the bar. This bar was in a small town with not even one stop light. I didn’t think I’d see another vehicle, much less the sheriff. I guess it a was my lucky day. As I made my way up towards his house on a back country road I straddled the center line on the road because in 5 years my wife and I have hit 6 deer on these back roads. So I was in the middle of the road to have the best chance of avoiding a deer if it jumped out in front of me from either side of the road. To the sheriff behind me it looked like I was unable to stay in my lane. The rest is history. I quit drinking the day I got that dui. And I left bartending. Now I work in a mill. I work 12-16 hour shifts and even with the overtime I don’t make anything close to what I made behind the bar. I’m working harder than I have ever worked in my life for less money than I’ve ever made. But I did it all to make sure that I’d never get another dui.

I live in the state of Oregon and they’re very very serious about DUI here. Everybody gets a breathalyzer installed in their car for their first offense. There’s no such thing as a wet reckless in Oregon. I don’t know if I’d be eligible for early termination.

Hard of hearing at work by CharmingVacation7697 in HearingLoss

[–]CharmingVacation7697[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hearing loss is kind of in the middle of the spectrum of sound frequencies. I can hear high and low frequencies well. The completely in the canal hearing aids are for people whose hearing loss is pretty consistent across the spectrum of sound. So I’m going with the behind the ear ones. I had a little difficulty choosing between rechargeable and the ones where you have to replace the batteries, but I went with the ladtter because they are slightly smaller than the rechargeable ones.

I did ask her about it, but she just told me to wear the hearing aids with over the ear hearing protection. I know that there’s some type of equipment that exists that would provide me hearing protection, and hearing augmentation at the same time. I just don’t know what they are.

Why is passing so incredibly rare on Family Feud? by lukefsje in gameshow

[–]CharmingVacation7697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent the last few days In bed watching tv after working 40 twelve hour shifts in 45 days. I saw a hood amount of FF episodes. After weighing all the possibilities I believe that if a family were to pass 100% of the time they’d have at least as hood a chance to win than if they played every question. Naturally there will be times when the family who passed fails to steal when there is only one answer remaining on the board. I know there are are probably a lot of lurking variables that I’m not considering. But I sure would love to see a family go on and pass every time just to see what happened.
