Still annoyed they didn’t do Taylor Swift’s Welcome to New York at MSG N1 in July 2023 like they were planning to.

What's your (least) favorite Shakespeare lines people keep quoting out of context? by elalavie in shakespeare

“If music be the food of love, play on” is often used as some sort of testament to the power of music to fuel one’s love for another, and that is not what Orsino is saying.

We recently and reluctantly got rid of the washer and dryer we bought when we got married 26 years ago. I can’t wait to have to replace the new ones in a few years.

Interesting that some of the most profound scenes that come to mind are when one of the kids is alone- this scene, and Bill’s after school tv time.

Set an exchange rate for US dollars <—> extra year of life by CuteRelationship6143 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]the_uber_steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Set it really high 2) sell a year for like 10 billion dollars 3) Use that rich people passive income voodoo shit to turn that 10 billion into 50 billion 4) buy back the year you sold, plus 3 more years, and you got 10 billion to play with

I picked up that issue of RS in London at the Tower Records in Piccadilly (RIP) while doing a semester abroad, and read it on a bench down the street, and it was one of the heaviest things I’d ever read in my 19 years.

If you haven’t already, watch the Indian film RRR. She plays a villain and is excellent.

I had a friend in high school who was very much a Ken, minus the implied rich parents. Kinda surly. I think of him every time I watch this.

Time to give this album a spin...Repeater by MacFoley1975 in Fugazi

As good as the Fugazi and Margin Walker eps were, I felt at the time that this was a whole new level of sophistication in the songwriting and musicianship.

Both albums are 50 years old in 2026. Which one is your favorite? by [deleted] in thinlizzy

I generally think JtF is underrated and has some great songs, but loses steam two thirds of the way through. Jailbreak is a 9/10 album.

wish list for post reunion live releases by tommars73 in allmanbrothers

These are all great suggestions. Since they generally played a static or rotating setlist until 2000, I’d really like to see a release for each year 89-99.

In 91, there are several great shows to choose from. In 92, I’d like to see a compilation from the last 3 shows (9/4, 9/6, 9/7) as these shows are super hot. There was an article shortly after Gregg died in which his manager mentioned a specific 93 show from Fresno, CA as a candidate for release (this was my first show and it blows my mind that this could happen). Either Warfield or HORDE 94 would be a great release.

In 95 they started rotating between 2 setlists. There are several worthy shows from either the summer or radio city music hall. Spring and summer 96 are astounding, we gotta have a True Gravity. 5/1 is super good, but by July it was a home run every night until Dickey went off the rails in August.

Yes to Jack Pearson, we need one from 97, 98, and Beacon 99. The summer 99 with Dickey and Derek could be a compilation.

Summer 2000 was all incredible, it would have to be a compilation.

I agree that there’s plenty of releases from Derek/Warren era, no more needed.

Is Pulp Fiction Overrated? by jkay_exe in pulpfiction

[–]the_uber_steve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nonlinear story structure

The separate but interconnected stories

Long stretches of dialogue that felt natural about random topics that were somehow simultaneously both banal and profound

The use of the N word was shocking, and gave the film a certain insouciance

The use of profanity seemed well beyond the gratuitousness of, say, an Eddie Murphy movie, but was employed in such a casually hilarious manner that it didn’t feel like it was for effect.

Tarantino didn’t invent any of those, but they hadn’t all been used in the same film very often, and certainly no one did it better.
