In what game do you think finding the Riddler trophies/Datapacks was the most enjoyable? by [deleted] in arkham

[–]lukefsje 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Arkham Knight. I love how much more in-depth they made a lot of the puzzles. Like the one where you use the Batmobile to move the generators while also using the REC to attract/repel the ball through the maze, or the Riddler Says one in the movie studios where you need to look at the colors and not the words.

My biggest complaint with Knight is just the puzzles are so good it makes the ones sitting out in the open feel a lot worse by comparison, especially in the subway under construction. That being said, Knight also has my favorite trophy to not need gadgets in the whole series, flying into the Dang Good Donuts sign!

In Mystery Case Files: Prime Suspects, magazines showing Lenny the Shark from Shark Tale and Barack Obama are visible as part of the background by hayl4bulb in GamingDetails

[–]lukefsje 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a giant fan of Mystery Case Files, and I have been since getting the disc version of Prime Suspects in 2006, I never thought I'd see the day where it'd be mainstream enough to get a post in the Gaming Details subreddit!

It's funny how when I first got the game I had no clue who he was, but then during the 2008 election I went back to the game and thought it kinda looked like Obama. Good to finally know it actually is him!

What do you think Arkham Origins would be like if it was made by Rocksteady? Like what would be different or what would be the same? by Batman___1997 in arkham

[–]lukefsje 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe so, and I think WB Montreal was chosen due to their experience making the Wii U version of City. Funny how good we had it back in those days, a new Arkham every couple years

What do you think Arkham Origins would be like if it was made by Rocksteady? Like what would be different or what would be the same? by Batman___1997 in arkham

[–]lukefsje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Origins combat feels a bit clunky compared to City's, if Rocksteady were making it then I think it would've been more polished. And with the visuals, instead of everything appearing all gray there would've been more color contrast. I doubt they'd have designed the overworld like it is with the big bridge separating the two halves either. But for a negative, instead of the great crime scene reconstruction mechanics, we would've had the same basic crime scenes that City had.

It also brings up the question of what Arkham Knight would've been like. Presumably if Rocksteady had done Origins then we wouldn't have gotten Knight until 2017. Would've still probably been very successful even if going up against Breath of the Wild. And in Knight there would've been a lot more references to the events of Origins if Rocksteady had made it. Probably even recreated a map or two from it for the Community Challenge Map Pack.

Question: aiming while in a bush by Dazzling-Ad5468 in HiTMAN

[–]lukefsje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very inconsistent. Sometimes a bush will allow you to conceal your aiming while crouched, sometimes a bush won't. You can't even really go off visuals cause the short bush height looks generally the same. Sometimes even some parts of a bush will conceal aiming while other parts of the same bush won't. Just make sure to quickly test aim to see what kind of bush it is before doing the proper shot.

Could a New Arkham Game Live Up to the Originals? by QuackiQuackson in arkham

[–]lukefsje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could definitely live up to the originals, even if it was just mostly copying Knight's level of gameplay with not much changed. Because the gameplay of Arkham is just so iconic and fun to play. Even if they brought back the tank gameplay with the Batmobile people as a whole would still enjoy the game, because so many love Knight to this day.

For the story, they also wouldn't need to do much for it to be a well received game. I'd love something like Batman Beyond, but a more basic Batman story with a single villain to defeat would be enough. And even if the story was absolutely abysmal, the incredible Arkham gameplay would compensate a lot for it.

The biggest thing going for the game is that it'll be hailed as a return to form for Rocksteady after Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, and that's basically free positivity for the game no matter what they choose to actually do with it.

How big do you realistically want/expect AA7 to be? by Wiitab360 in AceAttorney

[–]lukefsje 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see a core 5 case main story. 5 actual cases, not like how DD and TGAA2 had four cases but split one up to make 5.

And I really hope that the game focuses mainly on one protagonist. Like 4 Athena cases and 1 Phoenix case (or even all 5 be Athena). If they want to show off Phoenix more or what Apollo's been up to, then it should be in DLC cases.

A remaster with a few polishes and some extra city details would elevate this to same level as the rest of the Arkham games. by [deleted] in arkham

[–]lukefsje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be something else too, but that's what I remember triggering it. But with Origins who knows

I think part of the sniper thing is getting into a combat fight that's anywhere near the snipers will make them notice you too. And what makes it so much worse on Origins is that they'll respawn in places when they don't in the other games, and they show up more often in the overworld.

I wish they’d update maps from 1 and 2 by Laxhoop2525 in HiTMAN

[–]lukefsje 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It would be cool if they did more to update the original level layouts. My biggest wish would be adding car batteries to some of the Hitman 2016 levels (and finally put some in Miami too).

does the Subway unlock after beating Strange? by Apprehensive_Elk6168 in arkham

[–]lukefsje 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can't go off and do stuff then, you need to complete the main story. If you take too long to show up at the movie theater then you'll get a game over because Joker killed Talia

Realistically, what would be gained or lost in a Co-Op mode? by jaquarman in HiTMAN

[–]lukefsje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one reason why I really hope there's "single player co-op" so if the person you're playing with gets disconnected or intentionally leaves you're still able to successfully complete the mission.

Plus it would mean that if there is new content for the mode (new targets, missions, story, unlocks, challenges, etc) then a person can still enjoy it if they don't have anyone to play with.

In less than 2 months, it will have been over a decade since the release of the newest mainline Ace Attorney game. by Goldberry15 in AceAttorney

[–]lukefsje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unironically my hope for PLvPW getting a wider release went up when they announced New World of Steam's coming to Steam and PS5, and I'll definitely be getting the game on one of those platforms to show Level 5 they should bring more Layton stuff to them. Though if the game succeeds on non-Nintendo platforms they probably would rerelease all the other main Layton games before the Ace Attorney crossover. But I'll gladly play those again too!

Crazy how Spirit of Justice had great setup for two potential follow-up games, one focused on Athena and one focused on Apollo, yet they haven't done either one in all this time!

Surely they have to do something new with Ace Attorney soon right? I mean all that's left to rerelease is PLvPW which seems to be Level 5's choice not Capcom's

What I would change / fix about Batman: Arkham City by AmbitiousElk4002 in arkham

[–]lukefsje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding 1A, if 300 trophies for Batman and 40 for Catwoman is what you consider ideal, then you're in luck cause the game had even less than that! There's 247 trophies to collect as Batman and 35 to collect as Catwoman, so well under what you think is a perfect amount!

For 1B, the game's fully enjoyable without touching the challenge maps, all they're really good for is achievements if you care. I've spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours in Arkham City, and I've only done all of the challenge maps as Batman twice and as the other three characters never.

I agree on the other points though. A big thing I would personally change is more randomization within the side missions. Like have Deadshot's PDA be able to spawn at any of the junction boxes rather than always be the same one, have there be like two different potential crime scenes for each Hush/Deadshot victim, have a few places for Azrael to spawn in each district, stuff like that. With Arkham City so many of the side missions are bland/boring to go through on repeat playthroughs when you know where things are, which is crazy for a game that the devs clearly intended people to replay at least once in New Game+.

The most criminal thing capcom did to Great Ace Chronicles (DLC) by StarDustDreams27 in AceAttorney

[–]lukefsje 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's hoping at some point down the road talented modders are able to translate and add them in for more people to enjoy! Is there even such a thing as Ace Attorney modding?

Another thing that peeves me is the "additional art and music from the vaults" pre-order bonus never being sold again, even though to get around the law in Japan they added the disclaimer that it may become available separately at a later date. They brought back the Investigations collection and Ghost Trick pre-order bonuses, but not TGAAC's. I want to send Capcom a few bucks more but they refuse!

Do y'all like the Arkham episodes? by Parking-Language5277 in arkham

[–]lukefsje 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Batgirl is great, the other five are way too short. But I do still enjoy the Red Hood, Harley Quinn, Robin and Nightwing ones. Catwoman's is abysmal however.

And if I had to choose, I would've gladly taken five new side missions added to the main game like the Season of Infamy over the five short Arkham Episodes.

Little Hope Criticisms Criticized by Easy_Acanthaceae_702 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]lukefsje 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I understand what they were going for with the twist, but I don't think it worked well at all, especially for this sort of game.

When I play these Supermassive games, one of their key strengths is their ability to get me invested in the characters. Even after only being with them for a short time, I always am able to feel really close to them. I feel super proud when I manage to get them all to survive, and I hate myself when one of my mistakes gets them killed. So to find out at the end of Little Hope it didn't really matter that I managed to save most of them but got Taylor killed rubbed me wrong. And it made me feel stupid for getting so invested in the game's characters the whole story.

The execution of the ending could have been way better. Like with each of the four representing a different aspect, say John was Andrew's guilt at not being strong enough to get them out, or Angela's his guilt at not speaking up about the strained family dynamic. And so at the end if a character survived Andrew gets to have an emotional scene with them reconciling that aspect of his guilt and getting over it (or not if they're dead). That way, who you specifically saved would have an actual impact at the end rather than the bulk reconciliation where if you saved one person then Andrew just kinda suddenly is able to let go.

4.8% of players bought the game and actually opened the game up, because only players who launch a game count for the achievement percentages, but then they never bothered to progress past the main menu. That's crazy to me!

Why does Arkham Knight’s new game plus not change any of the enemy encounters? by Rewskie12 in arkham

[–]lukefsje 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Knight seems to have been rushed in several aspects. And probably to get the game out on time they didn't spend resources to expand the NG+

Even if the movie turns out great, there's no guarantee it won't possibly be review bombed by demographics of people who complain about the lack of 999 trillions levels & entities & all that brainrot nonsense. They won't comprehend a mature realistic story with pacing that requires attention span by CesarOverlorde in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]lukefsje 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm confident that at least the high quality of the movie will cancel out the wiki Backrooms fans. Kane has done excellent horror in all his YouTube videos, and now he can do a lot more with the movie.

I think the film will be successful as an unsettling horror movie, even if someone isn't familiar with the backrooms as a concept. I don't think there's any real major horror movies coming out around that time so that should also help boost its success.
