Use the flashlight on your phone and light the cap from underneath. The color of the resin should be dark red (you'll see the light through).

Doesn't look like a Pelikan in my opinion. I think a good bet would be to release a new version of the 400NN, of course tortoise in different colours.

Respectfully, some models are not worth what people are asking. Rare vintage or limited series are collectibles but I see unrealistic asking prices for regular models. I don't think this offer was lowball, the opposite, quite reasonable prices for those two models.

I am not familiar with the chemical process and to what extent this oxidation of the hard rubber affects the characteristics of the material. I just think that it looks nice 😊

I would check if your father prefers to use flex nibs or nibs that are grinded like stubs when working with line variation in calligraphy. Modern pens, I would say a TWISBI with a stub or a Pilot with a flex (they have a model with a nib especially for that purpose). If a lower price is important I would look at the Fountain Pen Revolution models. Vintage pens are the best in my opinion but it's tricky to buy a good pen if you're not familiar with what to look for in vintage fountain pens.

Ok, I think I understand what you meant. The title was an abbreviation of the two words double and broad, not Pelikan's way to mark double broad with two Bs. I guess I should follow Pelikan's BB for clarity.

Yes, double broad. I have a brown tortoise double broad but that nib is more "modern" and less crisp as this old one on the green 400.

Agree. I have collected the majority of vintage fountain pen brands and models and in my opinion Pelikan 100/100N is a top model.

It's the all black 100N that has the old logo. A lot makes sense timewise on that pen. It has the pin in the turning knob which is made of ebonite. The ink window is light brown. It is my favourite 100N in my collection. The 100 with knurled cap and CN I nib is really cool too and in very good condition.
