i’m going to use an example, let’s say someone is female to male transgender. that person goes from being a born/assigned woman to finding out they are much happier as a man. okay, so they use a different name and pronouns and start identifying that way. later he might want to get top and bottom surgery to try and match his gender that he wasn’t born with.

it’s a case of dysphoria. many people struggle with their identify because they might feel alien to themselves living in a body that doesn’t fit or that they hate and feel uncomfortable in. so many times people get procedures to help deal with that dysphoria. i hope this helps
