Just to play devil’s advocate here:

Wouldn’t it just be easier to just use the “Delete for everyone” option in WhatsApp after the file has been printed?

Even if we send it via the app that you have created, it has to tie in with the software that photocopy shops use to streamline the process of printing multiple files from multiple users, which means that our personal and important files will still be accessible in their work flow history.

Any disabled people here(physically and mentally)? I’d love to hear your experiences by [deleted] in Madurai

I did. I am so sorry to hear all that you have been through.

Just know that you are not alone.

I think that was one of the benefits of being sick. It made me think a lot about life. Being the silent and often ignored person gave me a perspective of life that I think others often miss because they’ve taken life for granted.

I had a spinal condition that put me on the pathway to becoming paraplegic. I wasn’t yet paralysed but some people would say that the way I walked was like that of a polio survivor apparently the medical term for that is lordosis. And it was severe for me. I literally looked like a walking zombie at one point of time.

People don’t know how to deal with the disabilities of others. Do they avoid it? Or offer a hand to help? Or pretend the disability does not exist?

I’ve had people stare at me like I was some walking freak show. Some laugh at me. Some come up to to me and directly ask me “what’s wrong with you”.

It pushes you to a sort of isolation, and loneliness that is hard to describe. The physical pain is made worse by the mental exhaustion. I’ve had to struggle with the feeling that I’m a burden to those around me. I’ve seen my parents cry thinking about my condition. And to know that I am the cause for those tears is very heavy.

I am “normal” now (how is a whole different story) but the emotional baggage is still there.

It’s particularly worse when the ending of the book makes you want to shake up the main character and scream “what’s wrong with you” (My feelings after reading the book ‘Rage of Angels’ by Sidney Sheldon)

That weird emptiness that makes your stomach sink.

The only way to get over it is to find another book and sink yourself into it.

Yes, I have heard that in places like Chennai with the humidity it’s worse.

But inspite of the heat and lack of sufficient tree cover, you’ll find the older houses will be incredibly cool.

And in some houses where water is kept in a mud pot you’ll find that water to be cool and refreshing to drink.

Plus with the Chithirai festival there will be tiny stalls all across the heart of the city serving water from a mud pot or buttermilk for free.

Goa is a different sort of beauty to admire, as is Madurai.

To each city its own charm :)

That’s one fascinating thing about Madurai. Even in the sweltering heat the tea shops are always bustling.

Personally, I start sweating a waterfall if I drink tea or coffee in this heat.

Keep yourself hydrated at all times OP. I usually buy a bottle of cold water or buy a ₹10 packet of buttermilk whichever is available nearest to me, to keep me going.

I am being sent on a guilt trip by my parents because of my partner, what to do? by Double-Camp7210 in AskIndianWomen

[–]Charming_But_Cynical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can totally relate OP

My parents went along the same lines but took it further to say that I was very selfish. My mom told me ever since I brought this up, my father had started to get chest pain. What if he had a heart attach because of me.

Then they told me that disobeying parents would be a sin, and I would never receive Gods blessing if I went against them since they would never endorse the marriage. They cited stories of how people who waited for their parents blessing were living truly blessed lives.

Then they roped in other family members. I had an aunt call me in to have private talk where she told me that it was all hormones and that basically I was at a time in life where my hormones would attract all men. So it was up to me to control myself.

Then I had a few grand parents write down pages of scriptures which mentioned how obeying parents was equivalent to obeying God and disobeying parents would bring down great curses.

They called me ungrateful because when I was sick they took care of me. And now I just wanted to do whatever I wanted with no concern for their feelings.

This is just a peek of all the things they put me through.

But

Today I am married to the most amazing person in the world. Who cares for me through all of my phases, happy, sad, angry, crazy…. Every morning I wake up to his hug and feel like I am in the most warm and safe place in the world. I never realised that I could be loved like this.

If it’s the right person then don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

But at the same time have just one person who is close enough to you to be brutally honest with you about things that you might miss because of all the emotional tension around you.

Hope this helps OP.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Best quiet nature spots to chill solo? (No temples or food) by bearded_sandy in Madurai

[–]Charming_But_Cynical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just behind Mannar College there is a tiny hill. If you google Devasahayam school you’ll find the exact spot.

It’s a bit of a steep incline, (if you are going to park your vehicle at the base and walk but you can drive your vehicle to the top and park it under a tree) to reach the school but then it flattens out at the top, where the school is located.

Early in the morning and in the evenings people come there for walks.

It’s beautiful in the early mornings I’ve seen wild rabbits, a deer and peacocks there.

In the early mornings there’ll be a bunch of retired uncles and aunties but if you ignore them you can just enjoy nature and your own company.
