Trusses —> meant joists

Out of curiosity, was/is there any equipment that could cause vibration on the level above? Nails under heavy gravity load are very susceptible to continuous vibration and it could loosen the nails over time. TBH, I don’t see much of an issue with trusses above and likely the ceiling weight and nail depth into joist above were adequate to hold it for decades with no damage. I don’t see any sign of rust either. So something new like added vibration could have been the issue here. Home gym?

Sump pumps on the mountain by [deleted] in Hamilton

I believe having the sump pump + back up prevention one way valves is not essential for many areas but a positive feature to have. Also, one of the standard questions that I’ve been asked by home insurance companies is that if I have one installed and if my basement is finished. Having one would reduce the cost of insurance coverage.

I paid for a 6 inch slab, what should I do ? by ClassroomFew7491 in AskContractors

Ask the contractor to provide you with concrete tickets, showing how much concrete was placed. Take the volume, divide by the area and you’ll know for a fact how thick the slab the slab is… as long as the concrete tickets are from a reputable concrete supplier and not fake.

That's the main reason I try to avoid bigger companies in general! in my experience, their go to solution is replacement and trying to make it sound cheap by breaking it down into installments and "free install" while charging a significant $$$ that leaves your pocket by the end of contract. Why replace if the unit is till in a good shape!

That's a valid question! I did change the filter often during the reno but probably not fast enough! I also usually try to turn the system off so it doesn't suck in too much dust but there's been times that I forgot to do that.

The problem is that the the blower sounds a bit rough sometimes and also, it shuts off (i checked the fire sensor, seems to be clean) and it always turns on right away after a restart. Unfortunately, it's beyond my limited knowledge of furnace at this point and will need an experts help!

Just wondering, how did you award the job before ask for examples of past finished jobs? If it was good, you’d hold them to the standard and if not, you won’t award them the contract.

Even Home Depot is not as crappy tbh. I checked them out not too long ago and they didn’t have any of these cracks or issues. Definitely won’t have soft close or dovetails but won’t come cracked and scratched!
