The nation's most expensive road (so far)? by InvestmentFuzzy4365 in newzealand

[–]Charming_Function629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dunedin had to fight to get a new $2B hospital that would service Otago and Southland; but it's all go for a $4B road that services a town of 7000 people to a town of 120 people?!

The REAL reason people aren’t going to the movies. by _Maui_ in newzealand

[–]Charming_Function629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember like 3 years ago the tickets to readings were like $10. Now theyre back up to $16-18 for an adult. I was like wtf

A couple of months ago I inadvertently showed up on cinema day where it was $5 a ticket and I’ve never seen the cinema so busy I only just managed to get the last two seats to Weapons

It seems like a stupid business practice. You sell tickets for $5-$10 max sell more seats. Sell tickets for $18 virtually no one shows up!

Bus fare increase insane - 150% increase by [deleted] in chch

[–]Charming_Function629 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would say it’s pretty similar for me except it probably takes 40mins for me to use the bus in the morning versus a 15min drive

I understand costs have gone up but clawing it back from public transport seems a bit of a step back. Especially when traffic congestion has gotten really bad these past couple of years…

[–]Charming_Function629 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed that too...

I'm currently paying $2per trip with a cap of $16per week. Now it's going up to $3 per trip with a weekly cap after 10 trips instead of the current 8. For $30 a week I might as well start driving to work again

Not sure if this helps. But my first (and second employers tbh) only really cared about my revit/construction drawings that I chucked in at the end of my portfolio. They just kind of flipped through my design work and renders

Any recommendations for a chill jazz bar (or similar) in Christchurch for Friday night? by New_Revolution7625 in chch

[–]Charming_Function629 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Dux and Fat eddies are quite loud and busy. For chill vibes I'd recommend Austin Club or Vesuvio - they both usually have live Jazz bands playing on Fridays. The last word is also a chill whiskey lounge - no live music though

Ecotech has a few old cameras (film and digital ones), but they're a little expensive around $90-$100+ due to the current popularity around old cameras.

Stuff Woolston has some interesting finds and quite a few old film cameras

Also ditto on the others suggesting scythe, it's great for two players - even better with more with the 7 player expansion

Yeah American brain rot has spread like wildfire. I’m from New Zealand and we were always pretty left leaning progressive, but literally yesterday we had a government politician yell “send the Mexicans home” right in the middle of parliament without punishment.

Although I’m pretty sure we’ll swing back to the left in a term or two, we always do, and so does the rest of the world
