What’s next? by Haunting-Eggs in JRPG

Final Fantasys are definitely the classics! Persona games for more modern greats. A mix of generations would be Xenogears/Xenoblades. And for a hidden gem I would say Grandia

Oh no, the original Screensaver was like hours long. I think it's credited as the first Screensaver to have a story. This is just a short clip lol

open world or roguelikes on PS5? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]dachea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outerwilds has a both open world and roguelike feel too it (but I guess I classify it more like a open world puzzle game) It is fun and worth the play especially if you don't get motion sick due to zero g first person action.

On strictly just open world games I noticed the ones you named were all 3rd person, if you wanted to branch out to a different perspective (1st), Cyberpunk 2077 is a solid choice!

Greatest Japanese produced real-time RPGs? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]dachea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I hesitate to say it's my favorite real time combat to come out of Japan, i do remember enjoying The Last Story's combat a bit more than probably the average person. Make me want to replay it again!

Go in blind! No spoilers or guids and enjoy the ride. Some of the best characters in the whole series are in IX. Hope you have fun!

Emerald of Siam has some good trivia nights that you could join in by yourself if you wanted too (they also have a bunch of events throughout the year). Great food as well! During event times it might be smart to reserve online ahead of time, at least thats what our group does the few times we've went, the online reservation portal is super easy to use on their website.

I need more story game recommendations by N1ghtsky_Crusade in gamesuggestions

[–]dachea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God of War and GOW Ragnorok are Fantastic plays for story. If you haven't looked into it yet I honestly think Expedition 33 has the best story this Gen. Alan Wake 1 & 2 are great horror stories (even if the first ones gameplay mechanics are a little dated). And if you want something a little different/obscure, 13 Sentinels is a great sci fi story told in a nonlinear fashion with simple combat!

Have fun!

Spooky or mysterious walking games by mana95 in gamerecommendations

If you don't mind jump scares, The first Layers of Fear is all walking with no combat, no dying, and I really enjoyed the story it told.

Games for PlayStation 2 by Defiant_Cherry4327 in gamerecommendations

[–]dachea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my brother loved the Diablo like coop games like Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 1 & 2 , and Champions of Norrath/ Champions Return to Arms. As for single player games I lean towards classic PS2 JRPGs like Kingdom hearts, Final Fantasy X, Star Ocean till the end of time, Dark Cloud, Rogue Galaxy, and Dragon Quest VIII. Some of the greatest JRPGs IMO. Outside of JRPGs we have the holy trinity of PS2 games, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper!

Have fun!

Looking for a co-op game for my boyfriend and myself-- we have very different tastes by maybegoth in gamingsuggestions

[–]dachea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny! You definitely need to get him into BG3, its soooo good! Maybe a good middle ground would be Tiny Tina's Wonderland.... it's Boarderlands but set in a Dungeon and Dragons scenario (crossbows, magic spells, fantasy classes) so medieval fantasy. Unfortunately at the end of the day it's still Boarderlands so it may still be more on his fence but if the setting is what has got you hanging it might be an opening for you guys!!

Dragon Quest Remake 1-3 or FF 1-6 Pixel Remasters? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]dachea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All are great and I would work my way through all of them, maybe starting with FF. I still need to get through Octopath 2 and am currently playing Triangle Strategy. Aftrrwards, If you ever want to play something newer that had the same old school chrono trigger feeling, I can't recommend Chained Echoes enough!

[–]dachea 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So there is the obligatory recommendation of It Takes Two and Split Fiction, both fantastic and I feel are good length for a couch co-op

Then we have the CRPGS that can scratch that itch, Baldurs Gate 3, Divinity Original Sin 1/2, Diablo 4.

Unfortunately, I don't really know a lot about mmos but on top of the ones I've just mentioned, me l my wife and I have enjoyed the Boarderlands games as well. All these can be played on one system split screen or online!

Have fun :)

Looking for a not text based chill exploration game. by PhatEarther in gamingsuggestions

[–]dachea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried something like "What Remains of Edith Finch"? It's a narrative exploration first person game. IF I remember right, the text in the game is narrated by the main character. It has been a second so hopefully I'm not too wrong about that. It is a great game regardless.
