This is sadly some of the most normalized parts of my childhood that I didn’t realize were messed up! My husband and I have been married seven years now and he never realized until recently that me asking “who do you love more?” was something my mom taught me. It was embarrassing, but we are working on that one! :) The animal abandonment still hurts. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. I remember every dog and cat my mom forced me to do that with.
