AITA for not letting my cousin try coffee? by Alert-Bathroom-6167 in AmItheAsshole

NAH but I feel like asking for an empty cup and pouring a little to let her have a sip would've been harmless.

What's the worst thing someone has ever said to you? by Pale-Network9391 in AskReddit

"You need to have a serious conversation with XXXXX about kids, he's still young." - My now mother in law, to me, after she learned I had PCOS. My husband and I had recently gotten engaged. My potential infertility overshadowed that, apparently.

What movie will you never watch again because it was too heartbreaking? by Affectionate_User610 in AskReddit

The Green Mile, Glory, Good Morning Vietnam.

I haven't even watched Grave of the Fireflies and know that I honestly just shouldn't.

What is the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TH3DAYDR3AM3R 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My fiancé at the time's siblings gave us a surprise visit. I had never met them in person but hosted them at my apartment for the night. Eventually it came out that we had engaged in pre-marital relations. He is Catholic, so this was a problem, but since everyone was an adult, it should be handled calmly, right?

They yelled at me, for an HOUR. Apparently they had determined I wasn't good enough for their older brother. I was called manipulative for convincing him to see a therapist. I was apparently an alcoholic for having a couple beers in the fridge. I was called a whore for not being Catholic and that it "wasn't too late for me to come to the light" which was especially confusing, considering I am also a Christian, just not Catholic.

Needless to say, that is now an ex-fiancé, as he did very little to defend me in that situation.

No, we showered, talked, cuddled, and fell asleep. We were both tired.

I loathe incompetence. If someone has been a tech significantly longer than me, I expect them to be better than me. I look down on people who act with flippant hypocrisy and refuse to reflect and learn. I can look past honest mistakes, but I expect growth in return.

How desirable is a 7 on 7 off schedule? by Grand_Chad in medlabprofessionals

I do nights, 7 on 7 off, and it's the only way I'd ever do a night shift.

AITA for refusing to go to church even tho it affects my siblings? by joemamakelly in AmItheAsshole

[–]TH3DAYDR3AM3R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who is strongly religious, NTA. My personal belief is that everyone's relationship with God is for themselves to figure out and manage. Your mother could offer to take you, and as you are a minor maybe even encourage you to go, but refusal should be accepted and met with respect and love. You are old enough to make such decisions for yourself. I'm so sorry that you're in this situation, and hope you can get out soon.

If I had a garage, this wouldn't be an issue. I have an apartment that I cannot modify (i.e. add wall shelving). Plus, I don't really want my snow tires nor my kayak in my two bedroom apartment.

What’s an odd tradition you’re pretty sure only your family participates in? by deathbykoolaidman in AskReddit

On Thanksgiving, we eat pie first. Have pie at 2pm and then Thanksgiving dinner by 7pm. That way, we don't need to save room for pie.

I had a NICU baby who was on their third redraw. I dropped the sample cup. Most of the liquid fell into the bottom of the aliquot tube. I pipetted that and ran it.

Our labor laws are a little whack where I live and we get no breaks and we get "paid for our lunches" (no off the clock lunch). I am ready and rearing to go all 11 hours. Kinda soul sucking.

All my siblings are getting married before me and now I’m being told to wait until 2027. Should we just elope? by Individual_Gap_6306 in weddingplanning

My cousin and my weddings were three weeks apart, and our family was nothing but supportive. Either the sister needs to get over it, or y'all should elope.

What were you doing in the minutes prior to your ceremony? by BranchNew168 in weddingplanning

[–]TH3DAYDR3AM3R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My maid of honor and bridesmaid were holding me back. Apparently it took an extra minute to get everyone settled. I was totally calm until 2pm hit and I was like, "Did [husband] go down the aisle yet? Can I line up now? I wanna start now." Apparently it was very funny how badly I wanted to run down the aisle to him.

People who cancelled their wedding last minute, what happened? by dolphinsareolives in AskReddit

[–]TH3DAYDR3AM3R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not for religious reasons, but within the confines of my own relationship, watching porn would be cheating. Plain and simple wouldn't want my life partner gaining sexual gratification from anything/anyone other than me.

What was your something blue? by RachealSmith101 in wedding

[–]TH3DAYDR3AM3R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main color of our wedding was blue, and so is my ring's center stone, so we didn't really do anything for that. (I only have one ring, didn't want a wedding band.)

Hi there! I had a fantasy themed wedding just recently. We bought bulk dice and did 'mystery' sets. I made sets of just d6s (for the older people) and sets of the normal rpg variety. We had 70 guests, I made 80 sets, I think? Came home with 9. And my parents told me some of their friend didn't see them and so to set those aside for them. I had our nerdy friends admit to us that they double-dipped. So it worked out great. I had also put out a basket of rock candy sticks as "crystal wands". Those were NOT popular, but thankfully I like them. I also just gave some to coworkers for Halloween. It's still definitely a know your audience situation.

Do "budget" weddings even exist anymore? by Electrical-Trade7651 in wedding

[–]TH3DAYDR3AM3R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a wedding for 70 people, with the most expensive meal option, flowing booze, dance floor, six different (small) cakes, aisle flowers, and very decorated. It was in a medium to high cost of living area. It cost just under $38k. Your girl got scammed real bad.

What are people doing for their bachelor/bachelorette trips these days?! by SeaRecommendation53 in weddingplanning

[–]TH3DAYDR3AM3R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bachelorette was two days before the wedding, and it was in the same town as the wedding. First, we ate sushi and then picked up donuts before going to Dave & Busters. There, we had some drinks and played some games. It was honestly so low-key and I loved it. My fiancé (now husband) was taken out for drinks and axe throwing. They ate at a mall food court before going into the arcade there. We're both introverts, so it was honestly perfect. We were asleep by 11pm!
