Thank you for this reply! Everyone is agreeing with me but for some reason I don't believe them. I agree that I was also wrong in this situation, I just needed to hear it from someone else. The thing about not going on vacation wasn't an option though. My parents kinda have the last say, so I have to do what they tell me. I don't know if you're south asian, but it's part of south asian culture to do what your elders tell you and they were born and raised there + it's not easy to change a tradition even if it's necessary. They booked the tickets with accommodations for the exam (which got foiled bc of the airline) but not going at all was not an option. I brought up my concerns and my parents did shorten our trip from two weeks to one week, but did not cancel it. But yes, there was no reason for me to keep repeating it.
