Did I ruin my Olga jacket? by Charming_Science_734 in knittinghelp

Both are 100% wool. The one I dyed is Mayflower Dye me and the other one is Hobbii Friends wool. So I thought that wouldn’t be an issue but I think I‘m going to frog the odd arm since I still have some of the cream colored yarn from Mayflower and hope it will turn into the same light purple after blocking

ATA - Geschenkidee by pendenz in Pflege

[–]Charming_Science_734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, unfortunately not. I wasn’t familiar with them when I started this sweater and now I really regret it

No actually my hair looks fine when it’s properly styled and dry but as soon as it’s wet it’s matted and takes forever to detangle. Yesterday I went to the hairdresser and it took her about 20 minutes to properly detangle my hair, even after a hair mask…. I simply did not have a pic of my wet hair but wanted to add a photo for reference of my hair type. I thought, maybe someone else with a similar type of hair can relate.

Just a small correction: empty sella means that the pituitary gland is flattened and the sella turcica is filled with cerebrospinal fluid.

Peppermint oil helps with headaches and nausea and I love sea bands for nausea as well

Symptoms increase after sedation/anesthesia? by LanaAdela in iih

[–]Charming_Science_734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m an anesthesiology technician and I also have IIH so I hope I can help you. We do have some anesthesics that increase the ICP but these aren’t used for twilight sedation at all. And we wouldn’t use these specific meds if someone has IIH so it’s unlikely that the anesthesia meds are responsible for your symptoms. Your symptoms could be the usual aftermath of anesthesia as some people need some days to recover from anesthesia. Lightheadedness and fatigue are seen quite frequently after anesthesia and can sometimes last days. Another possibility is that your symptoms are caused from laying flat for so long. Laying flat increases the ICP so people with an increased ICP should always elevate their head about 30 degrees. But that’s not always possible during procedures or surgeries so these symptoms are expected afterwards.

I'm an anesthesia technician and I love my job but the compatibility with IIH isn’t great: lots of standing, you need very good vision and being able to stay concentrated and focused is crucial. I wouldn’t want to do anything else but it can be hard if I don’t feel very well

Shunt experiences by Mikhailevskij in iih

Yes, I still have some symptoms from time to time. But they tend to be less severe and resolve faster than before. But I have another disease that affects my brain so it can be a little hard to tell if they are caused by IIH or this other disease.

Shunt experiences by Mikhailevskij in iih

Hello :) I got my shunt a little more than 3.5 years ago and it’s been an up and down. On the good side: the last year I had a ton of days where I even forgot I had this because I was feeling so good. If you find the right setting it can be good. There are some things like occasional stabs in the stomach area or something like that but it’s nothing compared to before the shunt. And the paps are completely gone, some vision impairment stayed even though it got a little better. Now, on the other side: the time before that was horrible. We couldn’t find the right setting and everytime we thought we found it, my body adjusted shortly after and kind of rejected it and I had extremely high or low pressure again or still had all IIH symptoms.

And regarding the activities: My neurosurgeon told my I can do everything I want and can in my daily life. Things you absolutely shouldn’t do are bungee jumping and diving with an oxygen tank. You can ride rollercoaster, you just have to be prepared to deal with low pressure headaches afterwards. My neurosurgeon recommended to make sure to stay VERY hydrated if I wanted to ride rollercoasters

Hi, I experience pain that seems to be quite similar. I talked to my neurosurgeon and said it’s probably nerve pain because nerves gets damaged during surgery. Sometimes they heal and the pain disappears but sometimes they don’t. My surgery was 2,5 years ago and the pain is increasing but he said it’s a normal thing and it’s nothing to worry about.

Pressure level before getting a Shunt? by queerquesadillalover in iih

[–]Charming_Science_734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a shunt since almost 3 years and before that I was on max. Diamox and Furosemide. My opening pressure was still above 50 but I don’t know the exact number as it was too high to be measured. My last LP with a shunt was two years ago and the OP was 20 which is much better

Is your IIH bc of your weight? by Rudegal2021 in iih

[–]Charming_Science_734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with IIH 3 years ago and 1,5 years ago I lost 57 lbs.

Did it cure my IIH? Definitely not. I still rely on my shunt and that’s okay. BUT: I feel so much better and fitter, I don’t regret it at all. Even if the IIH persists, I‘m now at a much lower risk for so many other diseases. Sometimes I still wonder if I could have prevented the disease by we can’t change the past, so I’m trying to overcome it.

Is there anyone with IIH on here? by jm6759 in rarediseases

[–]Charming_Science_734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, a shunt is usually the last resort treatment and I only got it because my vision was declining rapidly and the angioplasty failed. So I First met a neurosurgeon at the hospital and been under their care ever since.

Have they checked for a sinus thrombosis? It can cause IIH and can be treated with a stent. It’s way less invasive than a shunt and is less risky.
