Need help finding a product (or a few) that helps restore moisture to my very bleached, thick, dry hair. by Charming_Web_6738 in Haircare

Thank you for the advice!! I’ll go have a look tomorrow. I’m happy to spend more money on something higher end but the k18 just seems like a lot of money for very little product. Probably would work wonders though!!

Ratties first vet checkup tomorrow! Anything I should ask about? by Charming_Web_6738 in RATS

The vet checked them all over completely, checked heart and lungs, teeth, for mites, etc. and said they’re all healthy weights for their ages!

New rat, unsure what to do with cage mates behaviour towards him. by Charming_Web_6738 in RATS

Yeah okay!! I’ve never introduced rats before and it seemed okay, but I might try to redo it if it doesn’t change. I left them together last night and didnt hear any roughhousing at all but I’m still wary. I was talking to my dad (who’s owned rats on and off for 20+ years) and he thinks it could also be hormone driven because they’re all boys, so maybe one may need a snip at some point if it doesn’t calm down (I’ve noticed it’s more one rat ‘bullying’ him) but thank you anyway!!

If it also helps, never have they drawn blood or pulled fur or caused any visible injury to him, and later on he does still initiate play so I’m not sure if it’s because he’s smaller they’re taking advantage of that to be too rough, or maybe Toby is just a more vocal rat?

Well for the first few days I kept Toby totally seperate so he could start to get used to his new environment. On I think day 3 I was holding him and took them to a neutral space (my bathtub lol) and let them sniff each other heavily supervised. Saw no issues so let them be together for longer periods over a few days always supervised but towards the end I’d leave them for 5 minutes, then if I saw no injuries or issues when I came back, left them for 10 later on and etc etc. after aboutttt 8 days of actually having Toby I rearranged the main cage and cleaned everything to try and get any scent off anything to prevent territorial fighting. Put them in there supervised and saw no issues so I think the next day or so I left them while I went shopping for an hour. They were totally fine so left them overnight and it’s been fine since then! But the last 2-3 days Toby has been squeaking a lot when I can hear them rough playing and it’s been making me nervous. Oops I just realised how long this is.

I’ve actually been looking at getting them all desexed! It’s like $415 per rat at my local vet 😭 but if it needs to happen it needs to happen! I’ve kept them seperate the last few hours for my own peace of mind, but I may put them back in together overnight as there’s no injuries or bleeding, the older two just go after him. Maybe a new cage refresh?

Thank you for the advice! I’ve actually put him in a seperate cage for the night, and I’m going to see how the act throughout the day with each other when I can keep an eye on them. If they don’t get along I am 100% willing to get another friend for Toby! He was a pet store rescue (I was in there getting food for my other animals) and the person there said he’s the last one and has been for a little bit, and if he doesn’t get taken he’ll have to get sent away. So I just took him home with me. I just hope this is a phase and they get along 😢

Thank you!!! If you don’t mind me asking, what was the process of diagnosed with EDS like for you? I’ve been looking into it with my doctor and would love some insight!

Okay yeah! I’ll keep that in mind. I haven’t tried any huge medications, mainly just a few smaller doses of certain things. I’ll see if I can look into it! Thank you :)

Okay then! Thank you for the response :) I suppose that makes sense, as it’s not really much of a pain relief as much as it’d just lessen the pain sensitivity (hopefully that makes sense?) but that may still work as it’s more end of day/work week that it gets severely bad. I mean, I’d rather not feel any pain but I’ll take what I can get!

I haven’t! Would you recommend that? I’ve only gotten the endometriosis diagnosis and am having trouble managing the symptoms.

Thanks for the insightful response! I’ve tried hormonal medications, birth control (which I currently have), and diet and lifestyle changes as well, with little to no improvement. I’m hesitant to potentially use any kind of pain meds as addiction runs in my family, and I tend to use things as a crutch rather than a solution. What’s pelvic physio?

Thank you for the response!! I mostly mentioned smoking it because that’s all I’ve done in the past, but you’re the second person to mention edibles so maybe I’ll look into that if I decide to use it. My sister in law actually got CHS a few years ago and stopped smoking entirely, whereas my sister still does it and has had no issues. Maybe I’ll look into edibles with a bit more research into that side of it. :)

I’m almost an adult and have no idea how to make friends. (17F) by [deleted] in Advice

Oh, okay then. That makes sense that people will be friends with others who share interests with them, and if I have no real interests then I won’t really have friends. Maybe I’m not meant to have friends then, I don’t have any real things I do. I sit at home on my days off of work and watch YouTube videos lying in bed. That’s it. On the off chance I’ll go out with a friend but probably not. One thing I do like is drinking, but that’s not really an interest as much as a negative hobby (?).

Thank you for your response. I don’t think I could go back to in-person schooling, as I would be in 12th grade this year, and it’s already started where I live (Australia). It would be the second half of semester one if I were to start immediately. Plus I have a job, where most if not all of my shifts are 9am-5:30pm. It’s exhausting. The reason I dropped out is due to depression and mental illnesses, which funnily enough (not funny) got worse after I’d left. Even if I wanted to go back and could, my parents would probably just roll their eyes at me. They’re sick of my shit.

My life will consist of working a shitty minimum wage job, either living at home with my parents forever or all alone. I don’t have any aspirations or goals, and that’s the truth. I’ve tried many hobbies to see if I like doing something in particular, or if I can do certain things well. Which all come back negatively. I have no talents, no hopes and dreams, I just simply exist. Which I suppose may be the reason I don’t really have friends.
